DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. I'm putting a full explanation below, but I brought my electric car in here, they agreed to do the work, and then after months of waiting and back and forth they dumped my car on another shop, 45 minutes away, without informing me and with no work done.
UPDATE: Although I responded immediately to the email that someone from Caliber left below, it has been a week now and I have not had a reply or assistance. I also shared this with their main customer service contact at the same time I posted this review.
I'm writing this nearly 4 months after I first took my car to Caliber Staunton for an estimate in mid-October. I had been rear ended, and there was damage to the back door and rear backing sensors, but the car works just fine otherwise. They told me they could fit me in Nov. 25. I brought the car in, and after keeping it two weeks, told me they needed another part that was backordered. I took my car back, and eventually they called and told me they could start work on it again Jan. 16. I brought it in, and a week and a half later they called and told me the work was going slowly because Volkswagen had to send its own technician to turn off the main electrical and the mechanic wasn't used to wearing gloves. She also said they would not be able to paint it there because the temperature in their paintbox was too high for an electric car, so they might have to send it elsewhere. I left the conversation under the impression that the work was in progress and they only needed to send it elsewhere for paint. I never heard from them again.
The next day my insurance company called and asked if I would authorize work at another shop. I did. The next I heard was from this new shop, a 45 minute drive away. Caliber had had the car towed there and dumped it there with no explanation to the new shop, no parts, and exactly zero work done on it. And without informing me or asking my permission. The new shop also didn't have time to start for at least 2 months. It took multiple phone calls between me, my insurance company, and the new shop to figure out was going on, wasting several hours of all of our time. My insurance company did pay for it to be towed back to me, so at least I didn't have to spend a couple of hours driving to retrieve my own car.
So, at this point, I have wasted 4 months waiting for Caliber to fix my car, and have been deprived of using it for four of these weeks while Caliber apparently just had it sitting around their lot. My guess is that they just didn't know how to work on an electric car. First, it boggles the mind that a national chain in 2023 isn't equipped to work on electric cars. But more importantly, they never should have accepted it. And moving my car to another city without informing me is just outrageous. read more
