The coffee here is good, and the barista is a lover of coffee and willing not only to advise, but also to complain about what is lacking with their style of coffee - which was surprisingly refreshing. The food here should be your drawing card here. It is simple but good. I really like the breakfast brioche, especially when add some mushrooms to it. Saying that they are willing here to add or subtract anything on the menu to make exactly what you would like on your plate. Going from there, the staff here are extremely friendly, and make you feel as if you are home. Which generally improve your experience. This is an extremely relaxed and that is awesome for the weekends. But sometimes this place is extremely busy and so you might miss out on a seat, but if you are lucky you can sit down and relax.

I also tried their daily special of home-made strawberry and grapefruit sparkling - equally delicious. Whilst I rocked up at 80 Bay as its doors were just yawning open, it didn't take long for the cafe to fill. Service was efficient and friendly, a sparkling feature on the already beautiful and charming decor. Not only does 80 Bay have the look, but it has the taste, the energy, and the finesse of success. And with all of Toby's tried and tested tricks up its sleeve, I'm not surprised.

The banana was fresh (not cooked on the pan) and there were two big chunks of honeycomb butter on the pancakes. The maple syrup just tied everything together! This combo was DELICIOUS! Its a great little find right on Bay street, serving excellent coffee and sweet treat. The service was good and prompt. Its great to be greeted by someone as soon as you enter even though it was packed . I would say much better service than Max Brenner. We tried the cinnamon waffle served with strawberries, chocolate and ice cream. It was absolutely delicious we managed to finish it all even though the serve was quite large . The table next to us ordered the pancakes which looked equally good, so I am going to try it next time . Also the good thing is that its open till quite late as they didn't really write a time on the door - just said till late . The decor is the pretty much the dark chocolate colour that most of the chocolate places are - but this place still has scope to improve on that front. Somehow its missing the dark, cosy feel like a San Churro or a Max Brenner . Definitely good for a choccie fix.

When it did finally make it to the table, it was lukewarm and only a small size. I took it back inside, where they duly made me another one, but they weren't particularly apologetic or in a hurry to bring me my fresh cup. On a more positive note, their sandwiches look delicious, and the sourdough bread - crammed with raisins and nuts and lightly toasted - is heavenly. However, on our last day after a walk around Sydney harbour and through Hyde Park, we passed Batch Espresso on the way back to our hotel. Their coffee was perfect - extra hot, strong and creamy. Recommend!
