That being said, expecting a tax preparer to perform their responsibilities in a timeframe they establish should be considered a reasonable expectation. Of course, unforeseen circumstances can arise requiring the tax preparer to extend timeframes for completing their work. However, quality tax professionals recognize the importance of communication with their clients when timeline extensions are needed and use this skill to keep their clients informed and up to date. Unfortunately, Stephanie Ware with Arete Financial And Legal Solutions falls short in this relevant skill. Although she has received multiple positive reviews, she has also received multiple reviews showing a pattern of neglect and contempt for her clients. She repeatedly states she will perform tasks and provide phone calls or email replies within a specified timeframe without doing so. In 2025, she scheduled multiple appointments with me and never had the decency (at the very least) to have someone from her office call and reschedule when she determined she could not keep the appointment. I even sat down with Ted Ashton (one of the owners of Arete Financial And Legal Solutions) and showed him a packet of emails between Stephanie and myself documenting her lack of ability in handling (in a professional manner) my tax preparation. When he stated, "you're not wrong"... and then proceeded to read the multiple reviews I shared showing her inability to satisfy multiple client's tax preparation needs, an apology was all he was able to offer. He stated our discussion would hopefully help to improve the outcome of his business by improving deficiencies that currently exist. Stephanie Ware is a "hit or miss" tax preparer. She has years of experience that comes with a chip on her shoulder. I am writing this review to help expose the public to "real time" factual experiences. I hope to help people avoid the same type of recurring problems Stephanie Ware makes while ensuring the public has reliable information to help make informed decisions about their personal tax preparation needs.

It was good to meet somebody in person and it did not take too long either. I really love the way that they handle business, they provide a checklist on what exactly you will need to provide as well as they have a secure online portal where you are able to upload all of your documents therefore you do not have to go in in order to drop off any information that is needed to do your taxes. This makes it very convenient as you just scan everything in and upload it if they need anything else they will let you know. You live and you learn. Lesson here is when the deadline comes and if the work is not done, fire them... PERIOD. Joe recently posted that he was suffering from Covid. Sorry to hear, but it wasn't until April 21, 2021 that you text me that you were suffering from Covid. While I can totally understand how this can debilitate you physically and emotionally AND financially, at this point which is 2-1/2 months AFTER I had asked you to do my taxes, they should have been completed back in February. I contacted you February 9, 2021 and never, not once said you were suffering from Covid. At any point from February 9, 2021 to June, you had a responsibility to either complete my tax returns or let me know you could not physically do them. You rather chose to hide in this shroud of "Covid". You lack integrity, ethics and moral responsibility. instead of admitting your faults, you find excuses. For 2023, I researched CPAs early in the year and decided to go with Wanda. I spoke with her, she gave me a ballpark price and agreed to review the previous year's tax return and meet with me before doing 2023. Wow! I was in for a rude awakening! I uploaded my information to her 3.5 to 4 weeks before taxes are due. I supplied everything requested. I didn't hear anything from her office for about 2 weeks, then over the course of the last 2 weeks, I would get piece meal requests for information (not originally requested) as if the office/ Wanda was not really focused on my taxes. I FINALLY received my taxes back from them on Friday afternoon, August 12th with taxes due August 15th! I asked if Wanda was going to review them with me, but I was told no because the office was closed for the weekend and I must come in Monday to pay them before they would submit my taxes on Monday, August 15th! I was not even afforded the courtesy of reviewing my taxes with Wanda! My taxes are not complicated, but when I went in Monday, I was required to pay $995.00 (!) for them to submit my taxes on the due date. This amount of money was highway robbery, but what choice did I have because they forced me to the last minute. I asked to file an extension, but they were going to charge me another $250.00 to do that. Additionally, I finally met Wanda when I was making this outrageous payment and I asked her a couple of questions. It became clear to me that she is not the one who really did my taxes. Unfortunately, she did my son's taxes also. He's in his 20s with a meager income and not a complicated return. They finished his taxes about 5 days before August 15th. His invoice was $895! I couldn't believe it! He asked them why it was so high and they said they had accidentally put some of my charges on his bill and lowered it a couple hundred, but still...$695 to do his taxes! I realize she has received other rave reviews, but I would never, ever recommend Wanda O'Malley! I rarely, if ever, write reviews, but I felt this one was important. I was actually, kind of dreading the process. Anyhow, I met with the first of three candidates: Wanda E. O'Malley. Here's how that went: she absolutely knocked my socks off. I'm actually looking forward to my current CPA's retirement now. Wanda is super approachable. she is an excellent listener who knows how to really be present with the person she is talking to. That alone scores HUGE points in my book. It seems that when most people are in conversation they are thinking about what they want to say next instead of actually engaging and truly listening. SO that tells me that Wanda will be all over the details when it's time to take over our taxes. As a local real estate agent, I get plenty of requests for referrals for various professionals, and it will be a pleasure to refer Wanda E. O'Malley at every opportunity. One last thing to note: I did a little digging, and discovered that not only has Wanda graduated with an accounting degree, she actually graduated as Magna Cum Laude of her class. Pretty impressive.
