My server was great and the spaghetti Eli's was delicious. Try it and you will see!

Located in the town of Trier, and considered by many to be one of Germany's best Ice Cream Parlors,…read moreit was en route to dinner that a stop was made at Christis - Eis & Kaffee, a warm final day of May finding the queue lengthy with locals but also a few families speaking French and English. Referencing Italy in its style, but not going so far as to call the frozen flavors Gelato as the base is actually a recipe from Thuringia, it is with no artificial flavors or colors that guests will find an array of choices, a few Baked Goods in addition to cones or cups offered to-go while those dining in may also select from a multitude of Sundaes. Machine-churned in small batches, a few Vegan and dairy-free options even offered, it was on approach that decisions were made, just 1.10€ a scoop an entirely fair price for intense flavors suspended in smoothness, a surcharge for Pistachio entirely justified for robust toasty notes while the Rum Raisin is so boozy it would probably require a 21+ year old restriction if sold in The United States.

Unfortunately the only ice cream place that's right in the middle of bitburg…read more The ice cream is ok but pretty expensive. There's nothing special about it. The only good thing is the seating area outside, that's neat in the summer but other than that not worth a recommendation.

Lobia is hands-down my favorite Eiscafe in Bitburg, though more so for the quality of their product…read morethan for anything else. Bordering on expensive but absolutely delicious, it's a go-to locale of the city and worth the trip. VENUE: Situated in the Fussgaengerzone, you won't be able to park any closer than 75 feet at best. The establishment itself is a quaint little shop with a cozy interior and about 8 outdoor tables. It's a clean place, with even its little bathrooms passing my inspection. MENU: The selection of ice cream flavors is pretty good and the list of desserts is what you'd expect from an Italian ice cream parlor in Germany, with an emphasis on fruity creations. The ice cream itself will likely remain my favorite for the rest of my life. Made fresh at the cafe, it's deliciously flavorful without the cloying sweetness and density of its American counterpart. I don't know enough about ice cream to say for sure, but I have a feeling it's made with less sugar and butterfat than most of us are used to. SERVICE: Okay. Lobia seems to hire on a seasonal basis, so it's not unusual to see new faces there every so often. The staff is professional but can be low on graciousness: especially on busy summer days, the servers have a mildly harried look about them and don't often make eye contact or smile. PRICE: Within reason, but could be cheaper. I have lived in Bitburg long enough to see the price of a single scoop of ice cream go from 60 to 80 cents, and if Lobia's popularity holds, it may climb higher. You can get any of the Eisbecher for less than 10 Euros, but I particularly feel the priciness whenever I pay over 3 Euros for a small milkshake. As a result, I don't go there as often as I used to. Despite some shortcomings, this place's product is worth it. Check it out if you're within the Bitburg-Spangdahlem area.
