At 5:00 p.m. this Friday, I was in a bit of a panic. My plan to bake a cake for my mother's 80th birthday had fallen through--twice! Due to an error in installation, my new oven was not working, and a neighbor who had offered me the use of her oven had just called to say that her electricity was out. So I googled bakeries, then called Cake Collection Boutique and hesitantly told the owner what I needed: gluten-free cake for a party of ten the next day(!) Amazingly, for our family lunch yesterday (Saturday) at Texas Roadhouse, we enjoyed gluten-free carrot cake cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. They were just right--rich and carroty but not overly sweet, which was important. (My mom doesn't bake much these days, but, in our family, she was always known for making a mean carrot cake.) I was in town for the USC football game and thought I try this place out, simply because I love cupcakes lol I found it on instagram and made it my first stop while I was in town. The ladies at the counter were very friendly and helpful. I ordered a vanilla bean and lemon cream cupcake for myself and a red velvet cupcake for my friend. Absolutely delicious! The cupcakes were moist with the homemade, butter taste which a marker of a quality cake. The frosting was perfect, not too sweet or heavy. I have ordered several cakes from Cake Collection and they have always been a big hit! Her cakes are beautiful, DELICIOUS, and always exceed my expectations. Most recently, I ordered two cakes for my son's first birthday party and his dedication. The owner went ABOVE AND BEYOND!!! She is probably the most patient person on this planet as well. She listens and incorporates every detail you ask for!!! Lastly, these cakes are beyond reasonably priced for what you're getting. She is truly talented and I wish her nothing but success! This is THE most delicious cake and cupcake place I have ever been! The owners and employees always make you feel welcome and make the most adorable items. They have cupcakes and cake slices readily available for purchase daily but they also do the most amazing custom cakes for weddings, birthdays and special events! I brought their chocolate chip banana loaf to my In laws house over the holidays and it was GONE almost immediately. Absolutely amazing! The cakes and cupcakes are divine, beautifully made! Always moist, never dried out. Staff is amazingly talented! Super friendly! Atmosphere is very inviting. I'm in there all the time! They always have new unique flavors and they never disappoint! My favorites are Nutella Red Velvet, Cookies and Cream, and Triple Chocolate. You must try if you're lucky enough to get in there before I snag em. Haha! They also have a fun system where after your 10th cupcake purchase, you get the 11th free! Pretty cool. I can highly recommend this sweet bakery. The cupcakes are delicious, They have so many flavors to choose from....I think my favorites(so far) are triple chocolate,or maybe carrot or is it chocolate chip cookie dough,or raspberry almond, I can't decide.
