The fishing guides are awesome. The cabins are nice, the nights are cool and breezy. Now for the bad... for dinner I ate the shrimp pasta Alfredo and my stomach got pissed! I became so bloated I was in pain. I don't know what happened but I couldn't sleep that night. The morning after we ate breakfast at 5:30 am eggs bacon and a biscuit with juice or coffee was not bad but not that impressive it was okay. The only thing I do have to say is where are the hammocks not one hammock ? This place would be awesome at night if they had hammocks Hanging from the structure stilts

Hackberry Fishing Camp & Marina is located near Lake Calcasieu which is close to the well known Lake Charles. Lake Calcasieu is widely known for its incredible fishing. There are many different species that you'll catch in the lake, but the common catch for our customers are Speckled Trout, Redfish, Flounder, and the rare Tripple Tail. Speckled Trout range from about 4-7 pounds in this lake. Many fishing trips end with filling a customers freezer, because they're so easy to catch. The key to catching these trophy fish is fishing at just the right time. These fish feed like crazy during the winter and early spring. They are preparing for their long spawning months in the late spring through summer. Cast around the shallows and bank line and you're sure to catch a hungry Trout. With a limit of 25 fish daily and 12 inch minimum you will be surprised at how quickly you will be able to catch your limit. The Redfish in the lake are an aggressive, hard fighting thrill. It is not unusual for a big school of Reds to sneak up on you in the middle of Trout fishing. As the schools pass through you will find yourself anticipating the hook that will give you the fight that every fisherman dreams of. Cast right on the grass line of the bank, where the crab and shrimp hang out, and within seconds there could be a Red on your line...
