My family and I wanted a GSD as a member of our family that could offer us a level of protection in our home. After much research, we came across Caine De Lup kennels. I looked through their Web site and decided to reach out to Alex for further information about his dogs. The response I received was very quick. I explained that we were interested in a female puppy of goog quality and health. After a few e-mails and a phone conversation we decided to meet Alex and possibly place a deposit on a future litter. Luckily, the kennel is located approximately 2 hours from our home. When we met Alex in person, he proved to be a man who had a superior knowledge of working GSD's. He explained to us that what we initially thought would be good for our situation, was actually not so good. He was professional and down to earth. He did not come across as arrogant or in a hurry. He explained that what would work best for us was a male with good drive, but not a competition level dog. He showed us a couple of very young males and pointed out the differences that existed between them. The choice was ours to make, but we decided to follow his suggestion and picked a very nice black 8 wk old male. The transaction was also professional and painless. After a few minutes back on the road, I received a call From Alex who stated that we had actually given him way too much money than what we agreed on. I was floored! He could have kept the money and never said a word, but he didn't. That alone speaks to his level of integrity. Our boy Ruger has proven to be very smart and an honest representation of what Alex said we could expect from the dog. I had been researching German Shepherd breeders heavily for at least 6 months. I have a service dog that is a German Shepherd and since then I have fallen in love with the breed. It is now a passion of mine to work with German Shepherds. Finally after all of the searching, I found Caine de lup. After about a month of asking questions about the dogs they have, I finally made a trip to visit their kennel to purchase a dog. This was my first time flying to see a kennel so I had a lot of questions to ask. I wanted to make sure I was making the right choice. I spoke with Alex and his worker. Every question I had they both had a knowledgeable answer. Alex is very knowledgeable in the behavior of each dog and what type of work that dog should do. After seeing a dog he has available and one in Czech I made a decision. I am extremely happy with my choice and I would definitely purchase a dog from Caine again or even use some of his dogs for studs. After visiting the kennel, I felt completely comfortable with choosing an import dog. Mia is my first imported dog so I took my time selecting a breeder. Once I'm ready to purchase my own stud, I will be going through Caine de Lup again. I highly recommend this kennel for any level of German Shepherd owners. I have a pup from this breeder. He changed his warranty after I told him of the issues and I even asked him to contact my vet, because she is not old enough for the required OFA examination he was asking for for her X-rays so now the warranty has been re written but don't worry because I have the original and my dog will be old enough in February and I will be seeking court because he scammed me as his stud is not OFA normal tested with his elbows as OFA has clarified this with me and he lies about this. He writes the dogs name different on AKC and OFA than it is on his website as well. however there is a dog using the name he gives you for the dog with tests on the OFA site. this is being investigated. My female has bad elbows and was sick when I got her and I told her from an early age on her elbows were not good he said give her time it was probably pano, I have all the emails! As I stated I told him early and offered him my vets contact, he refused it and now has changed his warranty and thinks this is going to save him. This was his last email to me: Hi Yvonne, There's no Akc rules or OFA rules that you have to breed dogs after their Hips or Elbows are done. As a matter of fact there are no rules in America for that at all. That's why there are so many breedings done without any parents having any checks here in America. All our dogs get health checks, which are not ever required by neither, prior to breeding. We breed these type of dogs to produce better dogs because we love the breed. Why don't you contact the best breeders here or better of in Europe and see what kind of warranty you receive if your dogs has any problems. Most will say you have a 2 year warranty and that it. No one will ever replace your dog. I told him in our communication I would only buy from stock that were hip and elbow rated and I checked them on OFA that is why I contacted OFA when it came out the different name for the dog. There are no Elbow clearance for the dog on the AKC paperwork but there is for the name he is advertising. so there is something dishonest going on. I did my homework the paperwork did not match the puppy and then she had bad elbows. go look up the stud on pedigree database! read more
