Our sound-bath meditation was on point from the individual who speaks through the process and the breathing techniques during. I don't even know if I fell asleep or not lol. i was that relaxed. I was that comfortable and appreciated the me time and peaceful sounds. At one point you do hear the crashing sounds of a gong or horn (sorry first time and don't know the terminology) that were a little too loud that is what startled me and I was not able to go back into the concentration. Only downfall was they forgot to give me my blanket to cover up with so I was freezing the entire time. It's not a place you can raise your hand or yell out. I appreciate they do provide lockers, that you can personalize during your visit, with included phone chargers, clean bathrooms and a selection of warm teas.

I arrived at 1pm and there were several other folks there for the event. After signing in at the desk, the staff walked me over to the locker and showed me where to keep my things. After everyone arrived, one of the ladies gave us an intro to meditation and then we watched a 7 min video about the science behind mindfulness and meditation. The video needs to be updated as there was a lack of diversity (e.g, age, race, etc.) and that turned me off slightly. After the video, we were walked into the room, asked to grab a blanket and got into the hammock for the 45 minute sound bath and meditation. I serve on a board for an organization that's focused on mindfulness but this was my first time participating in a full on practice. It was very calming and allowed me to really get centered. The time went by fast and our instructor set the right pace. They offer a free session for first timers so I will be taking advantage of that. The studio is very clean, and they offered tea and other refreshments. But most importantly, there's plenty of parking.

I've been to Zumba and Nightclub cardio, both of which are a blast. The hour flies by, and you've had a great workout before you know it. The folks that work out here are super nice too. All ability levels will feel fine here; there are super-jacked fit people, and people with a little more fitness to gain and weight to lose (like me!). I never feel out of place. Check it out for a fun time!

Recently began taking intermediate level salsa dance lessons here. Overall I give 4 stars based on…read morethe location, instruction, reasonable cost of lessons, and spacious venue, as well as a very friendly atmosphere! Hector, Sarah, & Claudia Vasquez are the instructors. Hector is a straight to the point person, and keeps the class moving on schedule. We were able to knock out a fairly complex dance routine in one hour. I consider the routine upper intermediate considering the speed of the steps required to finish the pattern. If you are new to salsa, this would have been a difficult pattern to figure out. We had time to practice during the lesson with multiple partners. You don't need to bring any dance partner with you, many of the students came solo. The lesson started at 9:30 pm on Tuesday and we finished around 10:30. What I really liked was they started playing music right after and opened the dance floor to practice some more. And they offered wine, crackers, and cheese to socialize & schmooze as well. Nice touch. CultureBeat held a salsa social dance here last night. It's a BYOB with $10 cover, and Although the rain was pouring, people were flocking in. Lots of dance space, and slick dance floor. They played salsa, bachata, and kizomba as well... And again great atmosphere! Worth mentioning, the venue has its own parking lot however, the building is located east of down town in a not so great neighborhood, and that's the only reason I did not give a full 5 stars. Otherwise, as I always say, Viva La Salsa!!

I've been going to Vera Pilates for about a year now, and it's done wonders for my bawty. I have an…read moreeight-class monthly membership and try to attend 2-3 classes a week. They have a variety of classes to fit your needs, goals, or just energy level that day: first timers (for beginners), signature, sculpt (a lil' more weights, def more challenging), praise (prayer and gospel integrated in class), unwind (stretch class)... My favorite instructors--in no particular order--are Bobbie, Nina-Simone, and Sheridan. They all challenge you, help level up your practice (or give you space to take a step back if you need it), cheer you on... and their classes start on time! I live by my calendar and have 20+ scheduled meetings all week, so I like being able to rely on their classes starting and ending on time. (There is a 5 minute grace period for anyone arriving late, but I appreciate that they don't hold up the class for one or two people.) Vera often offers themed classes (themed musical artists or genres) and they sometimes bring in complimentary (and very thoughtful) treats like donuts for mother's day, cookies just because... they also do challenges with prizes--like luxe handbags. What, what?! My biggest tips for newbs (Pilates newbs or new to Vera): Arrive 10 min early so your instructor can show you around, explain the rules (no shoes!), and demo the machine if ya need it. Don't arrive *right* when class starts... that aint right, ya'll.

However, I've never tried Pilates using the reformer. Vera is in my neighborhood and I decided to try a beginner's class with a friend. The studio is intimate and upon walking in, it felt comfortable. They have spa like slippers as the studio is a shoe-free environment. Check-in is available on an iPad. Sheridan was the instructor for the beginners class and she was awesome. She met everyone where they were and encouraged us to level up for certain movements if we showed the potential to do so. The playlist was a vibe (hip-hop and rap) however in concentrating in the movements it wasn't distracting though in other workouts I may have taken a dance break! I found the class, instructor, and studio warm and inviting. I also really liked reformer Pilates! I plan to return!
