Café Rey, Good food 24/7 (Español abajo) Café Rey is a tradition in Reynosa. Located on the corner of Blvd. Morelos and Nuevo León, they are open 24/7. It could be compared to the Palax of Monterrey. I consider it better than Denny's of the USA. While the building is older, and not as fancy as some, you can't go wrong with the food, prices and service here. They have a private parking lot, so no trouble for parking. Café Rey offers an extensive menu with both American and Mexican cuisine. They have everything from cabrito, tacos, steaks, soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers, many kinds of breakfasts, desserts, etc. For drinks, they have a selection of aguas frescas, soda pop, specialty coffees, and alcohol. They also have a children's menu. I ordered the caldo Tlalpeño and really enjoyed it. The portion was generous and quite filling. My friends had the chile relleno and the milanesa de pollo and seemed to enjoy their entrees as well. I did not see the entire restaurant. There are multiple dining rooms, equipped with booths or tables and chairs. The dining room was clean, the service was exceptional, the food was delicious, and the prices were quite low. Tienen un estacionamiento privado, por lo que no hay problema para estacionar. Café Rey ofrece un extenso menú con cocina americana y mexicana. Tienen de todo, desde cabrito, tacos, antojitos mexicanos, cortes de carne, sopas, ensaladas, sándwiches, hamburguesas, muchos tipos de desayunos, postres, etc. Para las bebidas, tienen una selección de aguas frescas, gaseosas, cafés especiales y alcohol. También tienen un menú infantil. Pedí el caldo tlalpeño y realmente lo disfruté. La porción fue generosa y bastante abundante. Mis amigos pidieron el chile relleno y la milanesa de pollo y disfrutaron sus entradas también. No vi todo el restaurante. Hay varios comedores, equipados con reservados o mesas y sillas. Muy buenas porciones, sin duda una tradición en la ciudad, prueba los tacos a la plancha o el menudo!! Puedes llegar a la hora que gustes, es 24h. Lo malo es que llega gente muy ruidosa o personas que están mucho rato y no consumen. read more

It is not cheap for the "usual" or "normal" taste of the plates/Food. The service is slow and it took a wile for the food to me made. The "salsas" are not good AT ALL. Two good thing they only have. -Open 24/7 -Parking lot. read more

Yes I've been in Reynosa for several days. Would have done more reviews; but didn't feel like going through the trouble of looking up the address' to all these wonderful places I've been and posting them as new business since most aren't on Yelp. But anyway this one is on Yelp, so here we go .......had a late dinner here with my wife. Didn't take any pics of the food, but this restaurant "Cafe Rey" which translates to King Cafe, is very nice and clean. I have a sensitive stomach and after going here I must say that I trust this place with my tummy's safety. When visiting foreign countries I always worry about where to eat as to not get sick. This place is safe. My wife went here several times over the years growing up and she says good thing about the cleanliness and such. I had the tacos a la plancha on corn tortillas. A la plancha means basically that they are pressed kind of like is done with a pannini. These tacos a la plancha con carne decebrada, frijoles, y queso = pressed tacos with pulled beef, beans, and cheese. Was very good. The four tacos and the Chile torriado (a grilled jalapeño) they served with it on the side disappeared in a flash. They had so many awesome things on the menu I'll have to try next time I'm around these parts. Highly recommended! read more
