The wife and I have a long history with Méert. The first thing I ever had were the caramels. Then,…read moreduring my first visit to Lille, in France, home to one of the three Méert shops (the other being in Paris), I sampled their gaufres. Or rather, fell in love with their gaufres. The vanilla filling is to die for. We've taken visiting friends to Méert and bought more and more of their gaufres, but never had we actually eaten in. We decided, after seeing their luxurious looking tarts, that we had to try them. When we arrived, all the tables out front in the Galeries Royales Saint Hubert were full, as well as the small number of tables in the actual shop. We ordered our tarts and only had to wait about five minutes before a free table opened up and we were seated. We ordered the Tarte Yuzu and the Jardin D'Eden. You can read the description of both, and all the others, in the pictures I attached. We also ordered tea. I recommend smelling all the teas in the shop before you decide on which one to order, as they all sound delectable. The tartes were amazing. So we'll prepared. The Yuzu was both of our favorites, but the Jardin D'Eden, a pistachio confectionery, was in no way bad, we just preferred the Yuzu, mint and lemon confit, and the hazelnut crunchy layer. When we come been, and we definitely plan on coming back, we're going to get another Yuzu and try a different tarte for tarte number two for next time.

The decor was gorgeous, elegant, classic, and very quaint! Service was phenomenal and it's a small establishment so you feel very appreciated.

A classically trained French pastry chef, he worked with some of Belgium's biggest names before opening shop in the fashionable Châtelain quarter of Brussels. If passing by, as I did the first time I came across this place, you'll be brought to a standstill when you glance upon the gorgeous creations showcased behind the large old-fashioned bay window. Don't be too surprised, Nicolas Arnaud is a regular at international competition and a master-crafter when it comes to decorating cakes. Inside you'll be greeted by the smell of fresh bakes and friendly advice from staff. It is a small display space but there is a lot to choose from with a continuous to and from the neighboring kitchen. I'd recommend you dig into an éclair au chocolat or other choux pastry. I'm also quite fond of their little biscuits and meringues, perfect for coffee dipping. Prices are of course a little higher than at your local bakery but still very reasonable when you consider what you get. For Christmas this year I ordered my 'Buche de Noel' from here and was happy to pay 33 euros for a 6 person 'Bûche Rubis' containing a light and delicate raspberry mousse, vanilla pannacotta, blackcurrent jelly and almond dacquoise. A fair price for something that looked and tasted as good as this. It was in a league of its own compared to similarly priced Bûche that I tried over the festive period. On a practical note it is also a good address for your own personalized cakes, be it for an anniversary, marriage, or other reception - both private and professional. A must try if you're looking for a special sweet treat.

I especially recommend their Montblanc, tarte au citron and St Honoré. Their "cake du voyage" is also great. Unfortunately the people that serve you are not that friendly. A mere croissant doesn't get you a smile!

This place was an unexpected highlight!!…read more The pancakes was the star of the show - the chef in the kitchen is doing a good work, we even spotted the two workers in front chowing down on their shared plate of the pancakes - they were soft and really good. Chill atmosphere with people working at their tables with lit flowers in the ceiling, they have a really beautiful spot for being a cafe. I was pleasantly surprised. The lady spoke excellent English and was very kind. What more can you ask for!?

The ingredients were fresh, the eatery is small which can be exceptionally nice on a Sunday afternoon. I hadn't tried bagels before, but I was pleasantly surprised. I had the Nina without the avocado. I liked that, it shows that there was no problem to accommodate my tastes. It's something different than what we normally have for lunch/brunch and everything in between. They have bagels of the month on their board, that might help you with your choice. The staff was friendly and kind. I finished off with a carrot cake, oh my oh my! Tasty, not heavy on the sugar: it's served with a syrup that fits it perfectly. Overall I had a good experience and I recommend it!
