This place is cuter than a bug's butt, I tell ya! If I hadn't been walking directly by Le Mur, then I may never have found this place. And, in fact, I did walk by the place before turning around to get a closer look at the tiny storefront. I went in, took two steps and found myself at the counter. The friendly woman standing at the (automatic) espresso machine took my order, answered my questions, and, again, was generally very pleasant throughout the interaction. As I stood waiting for the cappucino and poppyseed-nut cake to be placed in front of me, a man came from behind a door to my right. He took a seat at the one (and only) table behind me. The Le Mur gal was already preparing an espresso for him without him having to ask.
I took a seat at one of the two tables out front. It wasn't a great view as there is currently construction going on in the street in front of the shop, but the weather was fine and I had some people-watching opportunities. Unfortunately, I couldn't finish my poppyseed-nut cake and when I returned my dishes to the counter the gal asked, 'What's the matter? You didn't like your cake?' I said that I had indeed liked my cake, but couldn't finish it as I wasn't really that hungry. Then she offered to bag up last little bits of cake for me to take home. I declined and felt like a food-waster.
When I return to Le Mur it will be with a greater appetite. read more
