If I only had the words for this one, wow, just wow! Very trendy, dimly lit dining room with art on…read morethe walls and a glass wall separating the dining room from the wine cellar. Service was extremely attentive and here they do it right, new glass for every wine, decanter brought out when necessary, plates always clear before the next course. We started with the gnocchi with braised lamb which was delicate and light and the gnocchi charred perfectly. Then we went on to the pork belly which was perfectly rendered yet nice and crisp on the outside. The cheeseboard was excellent as well and really focused on the quality of the cheeses. But that was not all, we ordered a couple desserts from the menu but what we got was a show. The crepes were flambéd table side and they were phenomenal, perfectly balance of butter, orange and cognac. Now for the wine. Probably the best by the glass list I have ever seen in a restaurant. Beautiful expression of French wines with fair prices. They offer a 7cl pour of many of their wines so you can try multiple (we tried about 6!). By the bottle we got a fantastic burgnedy Pinot noir (bouchard père & fils 2005). Under $100 for a aged notable burgnedy wine is a bargain. If your visiting Bordeaux as a wine enthusiast, this should be your first stop!! Truly a gem. Oh and yes they do speak English.

I visited Point Rouge tonight with three friends: two of us were British and two were American. The food and wine were both delicious, beautiful, and beyond reproach. However, the service failed to meet the standards the kitchen had established. Although the restaurant was far from full on a Monday night, we consistently waited much longer than every other table for every course, every glass of water, and every drop of wine. Determined to enjoy ourselves anyway, we watched several tables order crêpes Suzette, which were prepared tableside with great pageantry (several diners videoed the preduction), so we ordered them, too. But we were the only table who had our crêpes delivered cold without the tableside drama. I took one frosty bite and retired my fork, and when the waiter asked if there was something wrong with my crêpes, I told him I was disappointed not to have had them prepared tableside. He laughed and took my plate away. We were all charged full price anyway, and I might just mention here that the bill for four of us totaled €288. I am very sorry not to be able to recommend a restaurant with such wonderful food, but of course inferior service can destroy any meal. I cannot prove that the service we received was related that we weren't French, but by the time we left, it certainly felt that way. I might also mention that the toilets are quite...unusual. The doors are clear glass until you enter and lock the door, when they become opaque. However, there is no sign or other indicator that this will happen, so it looks for all the world as though you will be using the toilet in full view of everyone who walks by. I found this to be a very odd, almost cruel, décor decision.

We did our usual Yelp'ing to find this place and here's how it went! Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right in the midst of what feels like a maze of stone walkways is this gem. Le Michel's has a very recognizable red/white striped awning that will shield you from the scattered showers that seem to wash over the city this time of the year. The inside was packed, but like many of the other cafés around Bordeaux, there's only a few tables inside then quite a few outside. Dining outdoors in France is just a MUST-DO. We sat outside at the circular tables made for 2 and got rained on a couple of times, but the staff mashed us together with some other friendly diners and all was well. Lol. Service: Our server was so sweet and made our dining experience wonderful. She catered to us, made sure we stayed dry, got us moved and just did the absolute most for us. We are forever grateful. Food: Of course we had some white wine from Bordeaux, but to start our meal off we got an order of Gravlax Salmon. Gravlax or graved salmon is a Nordic dish consisting of salmon that is cured using a mix of salt and sugar, with either dill or spruce twigs placed on top. On top of it was a white, creamy, cold, cucumber-y-like sauce that reminded my tzatziki sauce. Putting the salmon onto the complimentary bread then applying the sauce on top makes for an absolutely Heavenly experience. The neutral tasting bread helps cut the powerful flavors of the salmon and the sauce down a bit this making them all work together a bit better. For my entrée I went with the Magret De Canard which is the duck breast. OMG. This was INCREDIBLE. First of all, the presentation was amazing. I don't even know how they cooked it, but the outside was crispy, but not crunchy. The inside was cooked to perfection, super juicy, tender and FULL of flavor. My goodness. The mashed potatoes were an excellent complement to the duck breast. Value: Awesome! The Gravlax Salmon as only 9.00€ and our duck breasts were 19€ a piece. EXCELLENT value for the quality of food we had here. In conclusion, this place was amazing and I loved it. Thank you so much to Bae for finding this place and to Le Michel's for dealing with us while we were getting rained on. Lol. Check this place out if you're in the area.

The staff speak English, they are very welcoming, the other customers are adorable. The food was GREAT! They use real baguette, not "grande surface" bread. The owner uses fresh ingredients--he told me he drives an hour round trip in the morning to get the best stuff in downtown Bordeaux. We will definitely be back on our next Bordeaux trip! I posted pictures of the salade lyonnaise, the cuttlefish salad, the steak-frites and the gambas (giant prawn). We also had the floc as an appetizer; from the region, it is very sweet.
