They have array of selections, from cannolis to sandwiches to cakes. The mini pastries were placed onto a paper tray, and sold by the weight. Since it far away from all the tourists traps, the price is very reasonable! I personally like their mini cannolis and mini cream puffs (chocolates delicious pistachio favor). We have been getting their sandwiches for breakfast as well. The staffs are very friendly and hard working. It's opened around 6am and closed around midnight. Customers comes and go with their array of snacks. If you happen to be in this area, I'd recommend checking out this cute neighborhood store!

They had a great large selection, prices reasonable and the customer service was lovely (despite the language barrier). I really enjoyed all the little sweets, great taste and fresh. Unfortunately they don't serve coffee and any other drinks are limited. There is only one little table to sit down at and it was occupied so I took my sweets to go to a near by cafe.

I love that the coffee beans can be bought whole or ground (to your level of coarseness) at the shop. While my Italian bf loves his Moka coffee, we do switch it up and make my "American style" coffees pretty often at home, always with beans from here. I think I have the high quality coffee beans from here to thank for the fact we drink more my style coffee than his. I was craving Mexican food the other night. After a quick stop to the market and here, I made something to satisfy that craving. Also, they carry sweet gherkin pickles, which apparently are not a common item to find in Rome despite the fact every other vegetable you can imagine is pickled in this city. An amazing, out of the way bakery that supplies some of Rome's best restaurants with baked goods…read more In addition to their substantial baking operations, they operate a small walk in shop at the front of their bakery. I found out about Palmieri when they delivered several cakes and pastries to a local restaurant my group was visiting. I jotted down the bakery name, and we made it a point to seek them out. They are located very close to the Vatican metro stop, in the interior courtyard of a building. Look for a small bronze plate with their name on the outside. Pasticceria Palmieri bakes some of the best Italian classics that I've had the pleasure to try from them. So far I've sampled their cannoli, tiramisu, and a phyllo custard pastry. All three were amazing! On top of the sweet stuff, they also make breakfast breads such as croissants, and savory flatbread/pizza like items. If you are in Rome, make it a point to seek this place out. If you are near the Vatican, you have no choice. I'll be dreaming about that cannoli until I return.

I bought 2…read more cannoli, a cream puff, tiramisu (has a butterfly on top made of chocolate) and a small cake with fondant on top topped with a cherry and filled with rum flavored custard. So delicious. I love the way they wrap them too- it ends up wrapped like a present (see pictures). We also had coffee here at the bar- there's also a cafe in the back. You pay for coffee up front at the register- cappuccino is 1.20, marrucchino is 3 and there are lots more choices! Order your pastries and then they give you a receipt to take to the register, unless you know what you want- then you can pay first and take the receipt to the pastry counter. People seemed to leave 10 cent tips on their receipt for coffee- so since there were 2 of us I left 20 cents. They also have candy and cookies here. Haven't tried those yet but they looked great too. I've been meaning to write this review for a year, as I've kept their card in my wallet just that…read morelong! Now that I'm returning to Rome soon from New York City, I feel to share. Everyday, they make the pastries fresh. The cornetti are delicious. The owner I recall is from Frascati, so he is a really authentic Roman and for someone like myself, who studied there during college, a pleasure to get to know. Mixing the best of an authentic Roman experience with a sort of hip Brooklynish neighborhood vibe, it doesn't get much better. I hope to stop in again.

Settimo Gelo is an interesting gelateria a bit away from historic center of Rome but well worth a…read morevisit. The owners Mirella and Pier Paolo make the point of only using natural ingredients and not ready pastas and powders. As a result, their gelato indeed tastes quite differently from the one found in vast majority of other gelaterias across Italy. That said, I would not say that I am impressed or convinced by the taste or texture of Settimo Gelo`s gelato. Natural, yes, but not particularly tasty, and I would even say sometimes bland. Prices are also quite high (19 euro/kg in spring 2008). On the plus side, the place is not touristy at all, proprietors are very friendly and one can sample some unconventional flavours like Crema Barolo, Cardamone, Yougurt with Honey Bergamote and similar. Customers are mostly locals. Settimo Gelo definitely deserves a visit to try something new, but I am not their regular customer.

At Settimo Gelo the fruit flavors are stand-outs: intense, seasonal, 100% natural, not too much sugar. This gelateria is not going to be everyone's favorite; the flavors tend to be less sweet & creamy and much more tart (or bitter, in the case of coffee) & lumpy (speckled with bits of the key flavor ingredient). I have been to Settimo Gelo a number of times. You find unusual flavors at Al Settimo Gelo that you cannot find elsewhere (see other review), but truthfully, the couple of exotic flavors I tried didn't appeal to me. My favorite flavors were pear (in early autumn), banana, wild berries, and almond. The small serving costs 2 euros, a bit pricier than the average gelateria.

I came here in the morning around 9 am with my friend for breakfast because we both wanted to try maritozzi closest to our hostel, which is basically a croissant or pastry FILLED (yes, filled.) with whipped cream. It almost looked like it was going to explode. For 1.50 euros, it was totally worth it. It might send a sugar shock to your body (I hope mines doesn't hate me) but it was so good. They have a wide variety of GIANT pastries and croissants that vary from 1.50-3 euro. I read a sign that after 21:00 they have 10 for 5 euro pastries. How nice! No coffee is served here but they have an instant coffee vending machine that I don't know if I would trust. Friendly service also and isn't a very touristy spot which I like.
