Disappointed about a misunderstanding that took place during my visit this morning. Basically, I took out cash to spend in Pisa yesterday. It was all in 20€ bills, one of which I used to pay for 2 coffees and 2 sandwiches at Caffe Drago. Total was a little over 5€ -- a great deal! I hand the cashier a 20 and cents, but she swears I gave her a 5€ bill. That's impossible -- I just took the cash out yesterday. I had noting less than 20s in my wallet. Whether or not she made a genuine mistake (??), I'm annoyed.
I felt crazy, embarrassed, and frustrated because of my broken Italian. There were people waiting behind me and I didn't want to worsen the scene.
Thinking back, I should've stood my ground. Oh well. A tip I now remind myself: when paying with cash, you say how much you are paying LOUD AND CLEAR.
Coffee was good, sandwich was fine, everything was fairly priced. But it all would have been a solid "ok I'll come back" if I hadn't paid 20€ for it. read more
