What a lunch. We ended up here after a drive around Northern Sardinia. I was a bit skeptical of…read morethe marina atmosphere but once stepping in, we were brought into a homey and cozy space. The menu featured a variety of local seafood and house made pasta. For me, the standout was the local specialty of fregola made with saffron and the local thin bread baked with rosemary (carasau). My husband's appetizer portion of seafood stew had oysters, clams, langoustines...so good. Our host picked out a nice bottle of local Vermintino that complimented our lunch well. We were finished off with house pours of mirto, the local liquer made from the myrtle plant.

I would have gone back there many, many nights if we hadn't found the restaurant on our last. I love when we sent our compliments to the chef, our waiter said, I will be happy to let my mom know. A couple of recommendations on food were the Mussels as a starter, Ravioli with a sweet Onion Sauce (I dream about this one - but it was a special of the day and sadly not on the menu), and the John Dory for our main. Really ridiculously wonderful place from top to bottom. Our hotel had a habit of liking to send us to their brother's, cousin's and sister's restaurants and always deterred us from going anywhere they didn't want us to by complaining about how far it was. On a map, Porto Rotondo said it was about 40-45 mins from Porto Cervo where we stayed but it was really a quick and beautiful 20-25 minute drive. Don't be dissuaded - it's worth the drive from anywhere in Costa Smeralda.

All inclusive dinner and wine for 60 Euros about $65 USD…read more 5 star experience: You're going mostly for the experience and views of the island coasts. You'll see a charcuterie board on steroids when you enter the premises which is a part of the meal and includes an unlimited buffet of cured pork, various cheeses, and wine before your main meal. Food: 3 different pasta dishes to follow once you're done stuffing yourself w the charcuterie buffet, and of course the porcedu (piglet) to finish. The pasta dishes were so so, considering they were very basic. Dessert was a piece of fruit and a local dessert called seiadas. Tips: 1. Get there right when they open at 7:30. Lots of dedicated parking but it did get full if you had a later reservation time. Also, if you're there at 7:30 the buffet area will be crowded and you will have to wait in line. 2. Come very hungry, I was freaking stuffed and had to limit the pasta intake to eat the porcedu at the end. 3. Don't wear tight dresses or pants 4. If you book in advance you can get the terrace area.
