I am sad just to discover this place as I begin my move to St. Louis! What a wonderful, unassuming little restaurant with amazing food, a very credible and unassuming wine list, and a great selection. I had a fantastic glass of Chianti with my alio e olio, a very simple pasta dish that few get right. It's deceivingly simple to make. But they nailed it. I asked for extra garlic, and it was so fragrant I enjoyed eating it before it even got to the table. They saute real garlic in angel hair pasta with the right amount of olive oil. Just wonderful. The Parmesan was just ok, but still a great dish. They serve fresh bread with every meal that is warm and absolutely delicious. We also had the garlic bread cheese that's served with a red sauce for dipping. Just wonderful. The tiramisu was fantastic, not dry. Their menu is fantastic, and their prices are incredibly low! Great price-point. This is a must-go-to if you're anywhere near Lorain Ave on the West Side of Cleveland, Oh. I shall miss your culinary delights!

First visit. New to the area and was in search of a local decent Italian restaurant. Walked in on a Saturday night fairly early (5:30) and our party of 4 was seated immediately. Fairly small place it was active enough. A no-frills neighborhood kinda place. Our party had the veal parm, veal Marsala, lasagna and a pizza. All the food was good. Very decent sized portions for the price. The pizza was ok, I prefer a thinner crust. Had a glass of house Chianti with dinner that was just ok. Service was decent enough, friendly and casual. All in all, a decent experience if you are looking for Italian food without a lot of pretense. Solid neighborhood place that satisfies on most counts.

Cafe Roma is a goto place on the west side. It's the epitome of ma & pop restaurant. Home made food. Friendly genuine cleveland style persona type of service. It reminds of places I went to as a kid.

Chicken parm w angel pasta & meatball add. Veal parm over there! Delicioso! So good great place.

Fine Italiano! My brother found these guys on google & other than being near the der Brau I didn't know anything about them. Cleveland is easy free street parking there 4-7 and always after 6 anyway as u know. so I park on Lorain & use the bar entrance. In fact we've only sat at the bar bc I've mostly been in a sweatshirt & they don't mind. I'm not positive but it seems like a big happy family running & working the place. Had the pizza first time and it was good & thick crust. Bro has the rigatoni & meatballs & he just loved it. So I had that today $12 or so. comes w 2 meatballs & everything was perfect. The sauce is piping hot and so good it just stands out. Reminds me of the sauce when I was a kid in Erie. Rigatoni was tender & just so easy to eat. Simple dish but so so good! Fresh bread to mop up the sauce. A+. Chicken parm I had on another visit, see pic. Giant pounded breast breaded just right, baked on cheese covered w the sauce. Fantastic. A big portion w the side spaghetti & I added meatball but again so easy to smash it! Great hockey man dinner & cant beat the price $14 or so. Maybe I'll sit in the dining room. Ha I peaked in there and every head turned it was like the sopranos. Owners & staff such nice people and it's so easy to get there off 117th exit. Def 5 star foodie ristorante. Thanks and see u again an

So we've been coming to Caffe Roma's for a few years now. The atmosphere is really warm and cozy. The service is always good. My only "complaint" is the mozzarella sticks were very "chewy"...but my daughter eats refrigerated string cheese anyway, so it wasn't a big deal. Our entrees were very good though. The food is well portioned. I couldn't finish it all. They also have a full sit down bar, if you wanna enjoy an adult beverage. Parking can be a bit of an issue. People tend to park behind you (double park) so if you don't wanna risk being blocked in, I suggest parking on the side street. If you're looking for a nice little authentic Italian restaurant, this establishment is a wonderful choice. It's very clean. Peaceful. The service is really well. It's perfect for family dinner or date night.

One of the best kept secrets on the West Side, this unpretentious family owned gem serves classic Italian dishes in a cozy, intimate setting. The owners are an older couple who hail from Italy who have been harnessing time honored recipes since the restaurant's inception. I have been frequenting Cafe Roma since 2006 and it has definitely stood the test of time! On my most recent visit - a cold snowy February day - I walked in and sat at a table across from the bar. They have an extensive wine and alcohol selection, so if you need a little something to help you wind down, you're in good shape! My server was very prompt and took my order right away. I opted for a bowl of pasta fagioli and a plate of Spaghetti Putanesca. Complementary fresh bread was served and comes with butter. The soup was a tasty blend of cannellini beans with carrots and pasta in a rich broth! The puttanesca was an outstanding red sauce of olives, capers, and anchovies... nothing fishy about that. If you want a taste of the old country without hopping on a flight, check out Cafe Roma!

Staff was friendly and food came out quick. I've wanted to come here for years and was so disappointed in the quality of food and taste. The mozzarella sticks were not fresh as we seen them come out a bag to the fryer and when served was warm not hot. The chicken in the chicken parmigiana was over cooked drenched in sauce and cheese. It's lacked flavor and was only warm. The spaghetti with meatballs had a weird texture and once again lack of flavor and only warm. All the food did not taste freshly made and even if the service was fast it was awkward that it all came out warm. The pizza was ok but once again the sauce had a weird taste. None of the food was eatable for us and ended up paying for a dinner we just couldn't eat and ended up leaving it. Ambiance is not bad, neither is the staff, limited parking but the food has been the worst experience for us.

Not at all what we expected! I decided I wanted something hearty, so we decided on Italian. My husband and I have Friday Night Dinner with my mother each week and we went to Yelp to point us in the right direction...AND did they ever. I never expected authentic, comfort Italian food on Lorain Avenue in cleveland, but it's exactly what we got and it was Amazing! They offer a full bar with casual seating, family friendly and a simple menu. Greeted the moment we walked in, we felt like we were at home. Our server was great, very attentive and always checking in. We started with a few glasses of wine, soup and three HEARTY appetizers. We went on to order three entrees and never expected to finish everything but we managed. The pasta fagiol and Italian wedding soups were homemade, just like Nona would make. The garlic bread was so soft and full of flavor, especially with the addition of warm marinara. We also had mozzarella sticks and two-dozen mussels, the tomato broth was so good, I had to sopp it up with garlic bread! My mother loved her eggplant parmigiana with spaghetti, oozing with fresh provolone! My husband went basic too, chicken parmigiana with fresh cavatelli! I chose the seafood linguini, shrimp, clams, mussels and octopus in a red sauce with garlic! Our meals were delicious! If you are looking for authentic Italian food In cleveland, this is it and I was shocked when we got our check and it was well under what we thought it should cost! Great food, outstanding service...we will definitely be back!

A Fantastic Italian Dining Experience in Cleveland's Little Italy!…read more We absolutely chose the right Italian restaurant! Mia Bella checks all the boxes for a fantastic meal: a great vibe, kind and attentive service, and excellent food packed with authentic Italian flavor. Every dish was excellent, and the experience was made even better by our wonderful waitress, who recommended a glass of wine that paired beautifully with my lamb chops. It was a solid choice! Pro tip: Get a shot of limoncello to enjoy alongside your authentic Italian meal. It's a great way to add a little extra Italian flair to the experience! From the atmosphere and service to the food and drinks, Mia Bella hit all the marks. If you're visiting Cleveland's Little Italy and looking for a memorable Italian meal, this place is well worth a visit. Five stars and two thumbs up! OpenTable gave us a 9 PM reservation. When we arrived, we came to find out that they actually technically closed at 9 PM. But because OpenTable gave us the reservation, they seated us anyway. The service was amazing. The food really was the kind of old-school Italian food that used to exist in Chicago, but doesn't anymore. The cozze with fennel sausage was amazing. The rucola salad was a very fresh classic expression of the staple. The pappardelle bolognese reminded me of an experience in Rome at Osteria del Sostegno. It was the highest expression of. bolognese and I've only had its equal two other times in my life. Graziamille.

Palazzo is an Italian restaurant in the Edgewater neighborhood. My friends invited me to the…read morespecial dinner here - Black Italian Truffle Dinner at Palazzo. I'm not truffle connoisseur, but decided to try something new. Based on our conversation with the chef who approached our table after dinner, he was dreaming of hosting this dinner forever. There was always something that came in the way until this decadent evening. I'll share my experience from the special dinner. AMBIENCE: Palazzo is like a gallery meets fine Italian restaurant. There are plenty sculptures including Michelangelo's David replica. Paintings of ballerinas reminding me of Degas. Walls of wine bottles, predominance of stone accents, and a small vase fountain transport you to Italy. Touches like backlights and wine bottle walls make the atmosphere romantic. The restaurant has multiple dining room spaces. There is also a wooden bar. There is also a covered patio. During our visit the restaurant was extremely crammed. The dinner was sold out. Tables were so close together that it was challenging to navigate between them. Guests had to move their tables to let someone pass through - other patrons or staff. I did not feel comfortable with these seating arrangements. The restaurant was very extremely loud. I couldn't sit comfortably without bumping my chair into other guests. I'm not sure how the dining layout looks like during regular days. Hopefully there is more room at the restaurant. The bathroom is in the basement, so not ADA accessible. The ceiling in the bathroom was awkwardly low. FOOD: Our dinner was 6 course experience for $125 (no tax, no gratuity, and no drinks included). First course (Antipasto) was Pera Sacchetti - Pasta Pillows, Pear, Formaggio,Truffle Cream Sauce, Fig Balsamic. Second course (Insalata) was Arugula - Black Truffle Oil & Shaved Parmesan. Third course (La Pasta) was Cheese Tortelloni & Sea Scallops - Shaved Fresh Truffle, Butter, Garlic. Fourth course was (Pesce Pan Seared Halibut) Black Truffle Cream Sauce & Roasted Rainbow Carrots. Fifth course (Mare e Monti) was Grilled Filet Mignon Medallion & Petite Butter Poached Lobster Tail Truffle Butter & Cauliflower Purée. Sixth course (Dolce) was Truffle Cream Filled Cannoli. Every course featured generous amount truffles and was very well crafted. I loved Mare e Monti, filet mignon and lobster were well prepared. While the courses were pretty petite, the dinner was filling. Considering the dinner menu, it was good value. Beyond the dinner, my friends really enjoyed wines. I ordered Prickly Pear mocktail ($10). It was okay, but not really flavorful. It was too ginger beer forward. It was pleasant to seem multiple mocktail options. SERVICE: It was wonderful that the chef personally greeted every table. I enjoyed learning about his story. It was a nice touch for him to speak with the guests. The rest of the service was average. The hostess was not very pleasant which set a bad first impression. Our waiter was fantastic but awkward. He kept taking away wine glasses and bringing back the same glasses. There was a lot of confusion with drink orders, and the wrong bill included the wine. Perhaps this was due to handling a large crowd. EVENTS: The restaurant is planning other upcoming events. For instance, Lenten dinner ($55) on Wednesday and Friday (February 18-April 2). PARKING: The restaurant has a very small parking lot with an incline. Arrive very early if you want to secure a spot. There is really no street parking nearby. You can park at the RTA bus station across the street. Parking experience is inconvenient. I'm conflicted on how to rate this restaurant. I enjoyed dinner, presentation, mood, and personal chef approach. I didn't like the table arrangements, service, and parking. If the service was warmer and less rushed, I would be all about this restaurant.

Neither was very warm. The parm was light on sauce and I didn't get the crushed red pepper I asked for. Requested a side of marinara as the dish was light and I hoped it would add some heat. What an awesome find in Little Italy on a snowy, cold Cleveland night!…read more I had called ahead after doing some research via Yelp recommended eateries in this area that met my needs. I walked in to a perfect greeting and a private dining experience in an upscale setting with a professional team waiting on me! I had attended a concert at nearby Severance Hall and needed a late dinner that could accommodate a 915pm reservation which was met over the phone and in person with genuine and upscale hospitality. The dinner choice was easy - I asked for a recommendation and learned the special for the evening was veal - which is one of my favorites. I said yes and they immediately brought bread - warm with butter - a great crust on the outside and very tender/flaky on the inside. This was paired with a house salad and house dressing (Italian, of course). The salad had slices of radish and also strawberry with the greens. This meal also started by a Pasta Fagioli Soup that was excellent - just the right temp and brought was surprising speed along side the salad - surprising because it was efficient but not rushed and the temps of all were to perfection - as if they had been waiting on just little old me all night long - even though I know they had not been waiting on just me. It is obvious that they take their role seriously. They presented and provided a high quality, first rate, enjoyable and yet comfortable meal a priority. They deliver this with particular and notable expertise! Just look at that veal and the side pasta dish for the main course! Dinner was finished with a dessert of Tiramisu. This was the best Tiramisu I have ever enjoyed! I washed it down with a single shot espresso! The meal was Outstanding in every way! Bravo to the chef and the entire team! Marvelous! When I received my bill - I thought it was wrong! I even commented on it and asked to be sure. This entire meal was served fresh with detailed and excellent preparation and the best ingredients - served to perfection and the total cost was $39.12 with tax! I feel like I am robbing these people and I can tell you I left a solid tip! Amazing and awesome! I will return.
