We ate here twice during our stay on Lipari - we were charmed by the portside location, and the chalkboard menu that changed every day. Both nights we enjoyed the caprese salad with bright, juicy tomatoes and an absolutely glorious (and enormous!) ball of buffalo mozzarella. Can't beat it. Pastas were good across the board - we had spaghetti with clams, spaghetti with mussels, and a really interesting pasta with tuna, capers, tomatoes, olives, and what tasted like some sort of smoked cheese. All were great, with wonderful fresh seafood. The tuna steak with potatoes, tomatoes, and olives was wonderful. The only misstep food-wise was when we got the beef; it was basically a really dry beef schnitzel cooked to within an inch of its life. That's what we get for ordering meat in Sicily - stick to seafood, it's abundant and fresh.
The staff were really good with our kid, bringing him crayons and talking sweetly to him. I also appreciated the choice between two non-alcoholic beers, as many places in Sicily had none at all. I think overall they had quite a well-stocked beer fridge. The food comes out fairly quickly but we did struggle massively to get someone's attention to ask for, and then pay the bill. But we basically expected that everywhere we went. Definitely worth seeking this place out on Lipari! read more
