Food options looked delicious- but I wasn't hungry, so I didn't get any food. It's just down from Schottentor station- which is right across from Sigmund Freud park and the Votiv Church. It's a very nice, laid back area of Vienna.

It was a cold day in March, in search of coffee shop, but this was the first one I found and wasn't interested in walking around anymore. Walked in and saw macchiato sign. I was thinking about sweet macchiato latte but this turned out no where close to be too sugary. Macchiato was latte macchiato, not sweet but they add three different flavor. I tried all three eventually and liked them all. Not sure why their coffee tastes different (in a good way) from the one in US, perhaps water, milk, sugar??? If I live here, I would be a regular at Starbucks. Staff spoke good English, it is always helpful and I appreciate as my German is terrible. Once my drink was ready, downstair was too busy so I decided to check out upstairs. Not many seating selection but found one by the window. Wifi is free, you will need to be able to access to your email once connected to confirm registration. Internet speed wasn't the best but steady enough to get myself organized. You will need to ask for a key to use a bathroom and located on the ground floor. This place was clean and staff was friendly, most of all, coffee was very good. Stop by to take a break, and enjoy a cup of coffee.

Owners are passionate about their coffees and will explain them. They have some nice organic coffees and are very into Fair Trade Coffees. It is always good to look down side streets as a tourist when going down the more heavily traveled streets. Please go and enjoy :)

Once you go through, take an immediate left. We were a little confused at first because all we saw were patio tables and it looked quite empty. Then we turned around and saw the actual teehaus. It looks like reservation might be good to have. We did not, but were lucky that there was one open table. We had the traditional afternoon tea with Viennese apricot tea. It was delicious! It came with five different finger sandwiches and the typical two tiered dessert tray with scones. The large pot of tea lasted a long time and we really enjoyed our time.

We ordered the afternoon tea set, a classic I've had many times here. But when it arrived, the quality was frankly shocking. Not only was there visible dirt hanging off the bottom of the tray, but the food itself was of unacceptable quality. The sandwiches were completely dried out - I don't mean toasted, I mean visibly desiccated and wilted. The salmon had clearly oxidized edges that had already turned hard, an obvious sign that it had been sitting around in the open for hours. The roast beef sandwich was soggy and thoroughly soaked through. The tuna had begun to bulge and run out. The petit-four cakes were even worse. Not only were several of them also visibly dried out and tasted like it, too, but one of the cakes was missing half of it, looking like someone had taken a bite out of it. The Punschkrapfen was almost inedible, a congealed filling and top that had already started to crystallize, so it could barely be cracked or cut. Another sign of something that has been sitting in the open for hours. The tea did not appear to be freshly brewed, either. Usually we would get a tea pot with leaves inside, to steep directly at the table (a given in good tea houses, really). This time, however, we got a pot with ready-made tea and no leaves that tasted stale and flat. This would have been complaint-worthy and completely unacceptable for any average to low-end restaurant. For a price of just over €50 for two, it is quite frankly an insult. The only reason I didn't raise a ruckus right then and there was the fact that I was having a business meeting and a train shortly after. Haas&Haas used to be something, but this most recent experience was shocking to say the least. Be warned - this may not be the tea house you remember.

You do have to walk through the smoking section to get there, unfortunately, but that's pretty standard, and here the non-smoking section is closed off, so it's truly without smoke. It's also just a nice room, always clean and quiet, and the service is great by Vienna standards. Mokador has free Internet, and supposedly iPads you can use while you're here. In the summertime they have outdoor seating and frappes, which are usually not sweetened at all (even when they are already sweetened, I find it to be not overly so). I've had snacks here, like sandwiches and cake, and that's always been tasty, too. And, perhaps most importantly, the water served with your coffee (even iced coffee) is sparkling mineral water, which to me is just the icing on the cake. A nice place with great prices, and if you need to use the Internet and/or study, the non-smoking section is ideal.

Unenthusiastic and almost rude when not presented with a large tip when we went to pay. A previous reviewer told of the non-smoking section being at the back. It seems that this had changed. We opted for the menu (they had an english version) and got Indonesian breakfast, Fit breakfast, and Meditteranean plate. I also got the Mexican Coffee--had a cinnamon, spicy like taste--would totally recommend.⁣⁣⁣ Also! We were served a small baguette and some rye bread in addition to our meals. Welt Café (World Café) in Vienna is one of the best new generation non-traditional traditional…read morecafes in Vienna. Did I actually just write that sentence? I actually know what I mean by it .... but prob no one else will .... so I'll try to say it another way. The Welt Café is a consistently cool café that provides all the expected amenities of a Viennese café in its own quirky kind of way. And I really like that it specializes in a lot of fair-trade foods as well as organic. The clientele is quite varied although the nearby university certainly provides much of the customer base. In warmer weather their outdoor sidewalk Schanigarten is the popular spot, in cooler weather their brightly colored interior helps chase away the winter blues. When I am in Philadelphia, the World Café there is an iconic establishment. Well the Welt Café (World Café) in Vienna is on its way to becoming a classic as well.
