We ordered here in Christmas Eve and the restaurant was actually quite busy with other patrons picking up. The prices are very reasonable and portions are great for the price. We ordered a Biryani combo with chicken tikka with extra side orders of saag paneer, daal masala, and Gobi Manchurian. All of the food was under $35 for 2 people and we had enough for 2 meals. Disappointed! Small party tray of palak paneer was like a oil pipeline rupture; it was bad enough that we had to take a picture as a reminder. Call Cafe Zauq; they agreed to replace. Well; when we went back we got two of the small boxes; family not impressed. Gets better; we all got stomach aches from the food. Unfortunately we will have to remove them from our list of preferred eateries to the very bottom. read more

Industrial grade food for sure, Cafe Zauq fills the neighbourhood demand with a huge selection of home style Indian-Pakistani food on a massive scale. No one was sitting around the dining area when we went on the weekend, although it would be no doubt a great food court strip mall style minimalist experience if you worked nearby and could stop in. Samosas are the measure of these west end GTA depots of spice and here Zauq hit the spot perfectly. They have a .60 veg samosa and for twenty cents more, a beef Sammy for $0.80 each. These were gobbled up mysteriously before I could get my hands on them but what I did try was the wrap, custom made with care taking a bit of time in the kitchen... it was massive and masterfully prepared, cut in two and arranged in a perfect fit takeout container. And the huge trays of deep fried (I guess) items like the Popsicle chicken and fish fingers I couldn't resist. They are sold by the pound so I got a pound of each. Got the red ones. Just then a fresh batch of beautiful golden brown with flecks of chilies on them was unceremoniously dumped on top and I had a sample of Lehore style and it was fantastic! Also, there is no real choice in seasoning from what I could tell, just point and order, you get the spice whether you like it or not, that's just the way it is at Zauq. read more

Horrible food; terrible customer service. We called before we went and were assured there is arrangment for dine in; but that is not the case, no plates no cutlery, not even a tray. Now coming to the food; Nan was thick & raw inedible. The nihari tasted of flour and was definitely a few days old, the mutton Karhai average, but tasted a little like achar ghost, chicken samosa was sub standard and did not taste fresh. This is not first time. We had an other unpleasant experience of poor customer service and poor quality of food by Cafe Zauq, Milton today. First of all it took 45 minutes just to have 4 naans, while we ordered on phone in advance, moreover, we bought Chapli kabob, they were almost burned (extra hard), looks like ready made prepared in advance before placing our order. Kabobs were not eat able and when we called from our home for complaint, the receptionist said that owner or Manager are not available and put the phone on hold for long time without any further response. If as a Pakistani restaurant you don't know how to cook effing Biryani than you should be corporally punished in Ziaulhaq-style.I got boxes of biryani for a dinner party. The rice were uncooked to a level that we couldn't even chew. Each box came with two pieces of bones with the shred of meat. Updating my review to add 2 more stars here. The Biryani is consistently amazing. Just tried some Haleem again and it was really good this time (finally). The service has improved as well. Bought lunch today and got disappointed badly. Chicken briyani was kind of not cooked completely and oily. It was like briyani inside oil. Spoiled our lunch and mood. I really wanted to like this place as I'd never had Pakistani food before, but was made aware it was similar to Indian (which I love). I came maybe 30 minutes before close and found the chicken curry meal I got rather bland and full of bones. It wasn't very enjoyable to eat, but maybe I'm naive to how it's supposed to be done. When you are paying 6 bucks for a mountain of Chicken Biriyani, I hope you are not expecting michelin star standards. But I think their Biriyani tastes better than many other places who charge you twice as much. I have had their food thrice, and never have been disappointed. It's a takeaway outlet in Milton and it's indeed a busy one! That tells us that their food is good! Wondering what to eat for a weekend lunch, we settled for chicken biryani. Got there at around 1:45 pm, yes pretty late for a lunch takeaway and to our disappointment the biryani was over but , we were offered to wait for max 20 minutes and a fresh batch would be ready! Of course a fresh batch of delicious biryani was the way to go and that built our appetite even more . We bought 3 biryanis and I tell you, each portion was huge, filled to the brim with 3 pieces of chicken and aromatic long grained biryani rice with the spices and masala. We devoured the biryani which came along with delicious mint-garlic/chillies yoghurt raita. Sad we didn't try this place earlier than now. Out of 1 biryani 2 healthy appetite people can eat! Halwa puri and paratha are good but service is pathetic. I ordered halwa puri and paratha over the phone. They said it will be 20-25 mins so i got there after 25 min. They made me wait for 45 mins (and still here waiting for my order). When i asked the girl at counter she told that they were not making the parathas but since she charged me already once i got there they are now making the parathas for me... As if she is doing me a favor... no apology nothing. I am giving 2 starts only because of the food else it should have negative starts for service. read more

The only place in Milton that I go to at least once a month. .the food is addictive. This is high quality food..the colours the flavors are perfect. The samosas are smaller but worth the difference in price . I have no complaints Bout this place. The customer service always excellent. They are truly the best place in Milton. Oh one more thing. Don't buy the fish. It's so affective you will eat it before you bring it home. So ..don't bother . You'll feel guilty before you get home and you realize there's only 1 piece left. read more

We ordered catering from Cafe Zauq (Milton location) for an event and the food was delivered extremely late, with no explanation, no apologies from the staff. The food was to be delivered at 1:30 p.m. and was delivered at 2:45 p.m. The lunch event was scheduled from 12 - 3pm so many of the guests weren't able to stay to enjoy the food when it did arrive. Extremely embarrassing for a host! On top of being unacceptably late the staff neither apologized nor showed any remorse. Worst customer service experience I have had in a while. The beef Samosas, the lollipop chicken and butter chicken were a delight. The Chicken Biryani rice could have been prepared with a bit more chicken. Overall though, delicious Indian cuisine. I didn't care for the veggie Samosa's but it could be because they didn't carry Tamarind sauce. If you love Indian food, this is a great quick take out restaurant. On top of good food - the lady who takes the order is the most welcoming and never fails to smile and greet which is very pleasurable. Since the new management (march 2017) things have gone downhill. Taste of food isn't the same anymore and customer service is terrible, and the nerve to raise prices on top of that! If their veal Biryani disappears in less than 4 hours then they must be doing something right. Its only $6, serving is of a generous size and with plenty of meat. The Naan are hands down better than Silver Spoon or anyplace else I tried. Nehari too is quite good. Cafe zauq is primarily a take out, it's cheap, it's less recognized and has great value, I am a fan. I havent tried any other items so can't say anything about them. read more

Just like all North Indian and Pakistani food, the food is greasy. But a good selection of medium spicy meat and vegetarian dishes. If you are not into Indian food then don't try otherwise a better selection of traditional dishes. read more
