After a spot of blackberry picking we chanced here which like the reviews said be prepared to smell a lot of fish. We were seated outside where immediately we were asked what we want to drink .I personally don't like this approach I like to browse the menu or at settle somewhat first. They didn't have a drink menu apparently so I just ordered a cider and my partner a flat white.. the coffee was really well made with a homemade biscuit on the side. The dominating dishes were fish orientated with a couple of dishes to share like a 50oz tomahawk steak for £65 or a huge lamb pie. We chose olives with large garlic crouton things for starters and for mains he had salmon with a mac n cheese with white truffles..myself a cod with berlotti beans and chicken wings Everything was cooked to perfection and presented beautifully! Half way munching through I heard a server offer a cocktail menu to someone so I pounced on that and ordered a Long island which was well-made. To finish we shared a peach and white chocolate cheesecake which once again was presented beautifully and tasted perfect. I would definitely return here, food is a little pricy but don't mind paying those sort of prices if the foods good..my only criticism is the slow inconsistent service.

As with many pubs in Lymm, the Church green has gone through a number of owners in the last few…read moreyears. I'd hasten to say that despite its turbulent history it's now become one of the better places to go for a relaxed pint or family meal. Its main draw has to be the restaurant, which serves fantastic food albeit to a mixed reception. I've heard some not so positive opinions but after my visit I was left feeling very satisfied. With TV chef Aiden Byrne at the helm the Church Green's kitchen has a lot to live up to and as a result I think this place suffers from its own hype. If you go there without expectations of Michelin quality food I'm sure you'll be contented. However, don't expect satisfaction to come cheaply. With mains ranging from a cool £22 to a mere £28 you'll have to do some pre-meal saving. On the pub side things are more reasonable, as drinks are fairly priced and its large outdoor area provides refuge for the smokers and summer time sun-lovers. Since it's conversion to gastro-pub however, it's somewhat lacking in general table space and is so for those wishing to sit and sip, it's probably better on weekends when the restaurant area is opened to the regular Joe. For me the only thing lacking is a decent selection of ales but that's just my taste. Never have the staff been uninviting or incapable and never have I felt like leaving early. So for a good social drink there aren't many places better. Definitely worth a try!

We decided to try the Village Bakery as we had never been in before, despite visiting Lymm quite regularly. From today, this will be a "must visit" every time we come! The young ones were entranced by the amazing display of cheeses immediately on entering and then saw the even more compelling cabinet of cakes and pies. We insisted on a "proper" lunch so they chose meat pasties; we had steak pies. The two girls finished off their pasties with smiles. The steak pies were the sort one only usually dreams of; first bite releases steam and a fantastic smell, then the rich gravy runs down one's fingers. The pastry was perfect and the meat succulent. We then understood why, on a rather cold Friday, the Bakery Cafe was so busy!

With an onsite restaurant, deli counter and Internet access Sexton's has many valuable features, which is probably why they still hold a monopoly on the Lymm's fresh bread supply. The reason they're still going strong after so many years is because of a consistent attention to detail. Whatever your order you can rest assured the staff will do whatever they can to accommodate your needs and make you feel as comfortable as possible. Serving a range of cheeses, meats and various organic and free-range products Sexton's offers the dedicated foodie a delicious range of products at affordable prices. The only downside is that on weekends the kitchen can be a little slow but this is only due to the large number of walk-in customers and pre-orders the staff have to contend with. Ultimately, the relentless hard work of the Sexton family ensures that whatever happens you'll leave satisfied.

You don't want to know,…read moreespecially when Lymm Fish & Chips is within walking distance and I have a really nice umbrella. I ate here more times than I care to share and let me tell you, I would want it to be my last meal on Earth! There is just something magical about fish and chips from a chippy and nowhere in the States comes even close. This place was always busy and very efficient. My awesome uncle had a tradition of grabbing a pint at the pub next to it while we waited, and let me tell you that only added to the authenticity. The orders were always packed properly, and the portion sizes are massive. They also make Chinese food which I thought was strange, but I have heard it's also quite good. Don't hesitate. It's cheap and cheerful and even better after an ice cold pint!

On the quaint and…read morecobbled Bridgewater Street close to the brightly coloured barges on the canal, Lymm Fish & Chips is always full, and I mean ALWAYS! This is a testament to the food- it ain't greasy chips and sub-standard takeaway. I would say that it is the Michelin starred restaurant of the chippy world. Listen Yelpers, for me size DOES matter and thankfully Lymm Fish & Chips agrees with me. Just you go there and order a portion of chips! Traditionally served in an open cone (don't they seem to taste nicer this way?) you are handed a pound of potatoes wrapped in paper. Although prone to exaggeration, I kid you not. These are the freshest, hottest and BIGGEST portions you will ever find. When I received my chip feast I had to ask the lady behind the counter what sized portion it was ( they have child 80p, regular £1.10 and large £1.40). Unless specified you will receive a regular but this will feed 2 people. Lymm Fish & Chips also doubles as a Chinese takeaway and once again, it does not skimp on its portion size. The food is restaurant quality and for £4.50 for most dishes and £5.50 for king prawn meals, this is terrific value, even though rice is not included in the price. Whenever I go there, I am usually buying food for six hungry people and you need no more than four meals to accommodate a group of this size. I love the fact that this is a chippy with a lunchtime special( £4.50 for a meal including rice or chips and a drink ), it actually draws no distinction with itself and a "proper" restaurant and why should it? I would not be surprised if soon it will have an early bird special and outside seating!
