My choice was the medium breakfast which was huge. I'm uploading a photo that doesn't show the two mini loaves or huge buns - one whole grain and one white. There was the most incredible hot chocolate, cheese, ham, honey, butter, jam, and a marvelous croissant. All this was only about 10€, plus or minus. I was thrilled and wish I could go back or have one at home.

I have fond memories from both: 1) Waking at the crack of dawn to walk through the quiet city-center to this boulangerie for a baguette, fresh out of the rotating brick oven. 2) Staying out until 5am partying at the nearby Café des Anges or Le Living Room, and wandering over for a quick hangover prevention pastry.

While it is not cheap, it is delicious, and it is packaged beautifully for you to enjoy or give as a gift. Service is excellent. They will likely offer a taste of their chocolate hazelnut spread (think Nutella). If they don't, ask. It is tasty.

The eclairs (in an assortment of buttery yet light flavors of cream fillings) were nothing short of outstanding. My daughter preferred the caramel, my husband the pistachio, and I the hazelnut. But then, 2 days later, I was blown away by a Paris-Brest like eclair -- think éclair shaped sandwich of buttery pastry with almond cream filling sprinkled with powdered sugar and crumbled toasted almonds. I'd return to Strasbourg for that dessert. Back to the night before: both our hosts and we were transported by the Mont Blanc, a chestnut and cassis dessert that was unique in both appearance and flavor. Don't miss it. Our hosts, both French born, said they'd never tasted such a delicious version of that dessert, and that the addition of cassis was unique and genius of this pâtissier. Also, for what it's worth, the elegant woman in the shop was lovely. In short, for the best French pastry in Strasbourg, don't bother going elsewhere.
Must try them!!

The classique breakfast which had nicely toasted baguette hot out of the toaster, fresh natural juice, butter and marmalade. The coffee, double espresso in particular, had a nice roast and perfectly and carefully brewed. The carrot cake was nicely moist and unique with great use of citrus/orange peel revealing delicious layers of taste and aroma. Located just across from the tram station Porte de l'Hopital, I would recommend anyone to stop by or a relaxing coffee break.

I finally decided to make the stop around lunch time on a Tuesday and waited a little less than 10 minutes (the line moves quickly). I ordered a pain au chocolate and the pretzel gratinee. Together they were both around 5 euros which is pretty reasonable. They warmed up the pretzel which was nice. Unfortunately there was nothing special about either things to me that would make me want to go back. They were good, but nothing that stood out to make it exceptional. I've had numerous pain au chocolats and this tasted like the rest. The pretzel was good and soft, which I liked but the cheese was only in the middle and not much on the outside. I've had better tasting pretzels for sure. It was a decent place, but not as hyped up as it was made out to be.
