Great location and beautiful setting (there are front and back outdoor seating). Probably our best Turkish Breakfast of the trip. The staff was very attentive and helpful and the food was GREAT!!!

I researched places to get a traditional Turkish breakfast before I came. This place jad so many reviews and was on so many sites, it was a tissue up to whether it would be a good breakfast or a tourist trap. Verdict is in and...It is an amazing breakfast experience. Nice little cafe in galata that creates a home like feel through the service, view, and music. The assortment of breads, butters, jams and cheese allowed every bite to be different. They clearly care about the ingredients because simple dishes were elevated because of the quality of ingredients. This place is not a tourist trap and you will enjoy your breakfast here.

    - Too expensive for traditional Turkey food. - Obviously target western tourist. - so much flys if you sit at the outdoor seating - Wi-Fi doesn't work There're better places to go tbh.

This is such a cute place! It does have a more modern feel and has a nice vibe. They have plenty of sittings inside and outside. Cafe Privato serves Turkish breakfast all day, which is really cool if you are not an early riser. I did find their Turkish breakfast offering more "sweet" things that I would like but it was really good. Plenty of various dishes to choose from, and it is very reasonably priced (maybe sightly more expensive than other similar places in the area). Overall, I definitely recommend checking it out if you are in the area!

What a beautiful, delicious breakfast. We ordered the Turkish Breakfast for Two - which was SO much food. Standouts were the grilled halloumi, simit, the candied chestnut, the pancake (potato) and the kaymak. Honestly - everything was perfect. Also got a tangerine-pomegranate juice - fresh squeezed and with lots of pulp - outstanding. Also ordered an omelette - delicious but not necessary - we had too much food! Cute location. The service was excellent.

Saw this place on YouTube and Ive always wanted a solid Turkish bfast, so we gave it a shot. Walked from Galata tower down a small street and saw the couch outside luckily. Nice and quiet and not too bright at all, they use brown paper to cover the tables and you can write something on it after and tape it to the wall. We just got the Turkish bfast and it was ALOT of food. Fried eggs, cheeses, bread, syrups, olives, fruit etc... Great food and the kids working there were also very nice and accomodating.. next time I'm in istanbul I'll be coming back here again.

    Manti with Apple Çay.

Visited this restaurant after the Cat Museum Istanbul recommended it only to find out I tabbed this place on Yelp to eat at! Excellent service, they're known for their breakfast options but I had lunch. The Manti was delicious, their Apple çay and local cat fitting right into the ambience of a Turkish cafe/restaurant.

Date of visit: May 31, 2021 Attached to this review are menu photos and a few interior pictures. Prices are in Turkish Lira. At the time the USD/Lira conversion rate was $1/8.57 Lira. Cafe Privato's is such a wonderful little gem in the very lower Taksim area of Istanbul. We went for in for brunch and we're not disappointed in anyway. The seating capacity is about 25-30 people. It has a small garden area off the back door and a view of the Galata Kulesi (tower) built back in 1348. We were seated immediately. A bottle of water was brought out while we chose what we were going to eat. The menu has an English description beside most things. I am a sucker for great french fries, and I saw a plate of them on another table. Immediately I could tell these were hand cut, fried to the perfect crispness. I ended up ordering 2 plates full for us to split. I ordered the Sefin Tabagi dish (Cafe Privato's chef specialty dish). It has a few meats and a few small portions of their other specialties. Good heavens, each one was simply incredible and not one of them disappointed in anyway. They brought out a small bowl of house soup for us prior to the main meal. I have no idea what it was, and I have never had anything like it before. It had an extremely subtle taste to it but very fulfilling. It paired well with the fresh baked bread brought with it. My guest had the Manti (little meat filled ravioli with tomato sauce and a yogurt based topping. He finished his meal off with a cup of the Turkish coffee. He said everything he had was truly fantastic as well. If you want a fantastic meal you have to visit this place. Everything they brought out to other tables looked amazing as well

    Mezza plate .

Wonderful little place . A nice place to slip out of the hustle and bustle for a drink and a lovely Mezza plate.

Incredible. I will dream of this breakfast. Fresh spreads, cheeses, and pastries. I loved the fresh hazelnut spread and the feta pancakes. Warm tea and friendly service. The location is amazing, a really cool artsy neighborhood right near Galata Tower. I will return next time I'm in Istanbul.

What an amazing experience! We stumbled across this gem on our first morning in Istanbul. We were looking for a traditional Turkish breakfast and indeed did this place deliver! The food was amazing and the service was fantastic! In fact the morning we visited the restaurant was having a power outage and we honestly didn't notice until the server mentioned something. We sat in the back patio/garden area and we're able to enjoy our Turkish breakfast while enjoying the early spring sun. I highly recommend!

I ordered the Iskender kebab which is beef and pita bread covered with tomato sauce with yogurt on the side. I ordered a side salad to go with it. The dish was very delicious as you can tell in one of my pics. I chatted with some of the staff about life in Istanbul. Make your reservation in advance to secure your sunset table. The inside is nice and classy but I simply adore the open air views from the roof. The birds really set off the skyline and you can see several of the mosques around. Not SUPER expensive but it is in the higher end price wise compared to their surrounding competition -- 100% worth it in my book. I will definitely go again on my next visit. Glad I could introduce it to a friend this go round. The only thing I disliked about this place is the "dining dome" as I called it. A portion of the roof now offers seating in a large plastic dome. The dome is scratched up and obstructs the view of the city but does protect diners from the wind. I was not a fan of this dome. I'm sure it's something someone saw on the internet and implemented .. I hope they get rid of it, it's super unnecessary. Otherwise -- LOVE!

After two days having some great meals in Istanbul of that type, we looked for something different. Not far from Galata Tower, GK is on a side street with little foot traffic. It has a big modern sign back off the street and one of the operators saw us hesitating where to enter and waved us in from the front entrance. Inside it has whimsical and funny decorations and serious books mounted on the wall, but is not atmospheric, more like a diner. BUT the food is displayed in a case, hot and cold entrees separated, so you can see what you are ordering. You pick what you want and they assemble your choices on a plate and bring it to the table. Hot entrees included chicken bites in a tomato sauce and chicken with onions, lamb stew and beef and plenty of salad and vegetable choices in the cold display case. The group of men running the place that night were low key but personable, answering our questions about food items and Turkish literature. Service was prompt but understated and helpful. Our group of four had a great time and the menu is diverse enough that everyone found choices that pleased them. But remember, we came in expecting something very good other than doner kebap and were not disappointed!
