I went there once for a coffee to stay, and another time for a coffee and a croissant to go. The croissant was a bit meh (maybe the solution is just not to buy croissants in Germany). The coffee was not bad but not exceptional either. And the service was a bit sketchy and amateurish. I have ordered a coffee in my terrible German, and the person at the counter did not understand me (this was actually the first time, there is nothing arcane in "a Kaffee bitte"), I had to repeat several times while she was giggling (gosh, people, try to learn a new language and we will talk again). Then they asked if I wanted milk with the coffee, I said a clear 'no', and they brought it anyways. Maybe this is some kind of supposedly 'friendly' (as opposed to professional) service, but I think I prefer the professional service that one gets in Parisian cafés (and okay, I was a bit offended by the laughing at my attempts at speaking German). Maybe I will give the place another chance, because the Kuchen look rather tempting.

However, we didn't order anything roasted. They are known for their coffee roasting. Since it was lunch time, we ordered lunch instead of breakfast. My wiener schnitzel was perfect and the man's saffron risotto was delicious. Pleasant but slow service. An decent place for a quick lunch, especially when not many places are open on a Sunday. We dined here for brunch after we walked by other places in search of a place that served omelettes. Because it was a cold grey day, we dined inside which was very cozy and right next to the coffee bagging / roasting area. You don't get much of the smell in the front but in the rear of the restaurant. I unfortunately did not have the omelette. My breakfast came with a glass champagne and a variety of meats and cheeses including lox, ham, salami, and manchego. It was served with a basket of breads which just didn't do it for me... Only the white bread was toasted. I need my bread either hot and fresh or toasted. I would definitely suggest this place as a pit stop for a light breakfast and coffee.

And I have to be honest, I love crepes, but the real reason I go here is for the breakfast menu items. This place offers you a breakfast to die for. We tend to go here on Sunday mornings with our neighbors, order the "Small Breakfast" with some extra nutella, cheese, and sausage and eat ourselves to a happy ending. The place can accommodate about 40 - 50 people indoors. Reserve a spot if you decide to go. Be surprised by how happily full you can get without hurting your wallet.
