The best kind of meetings you can have are meetings that begin with red wine and end in Pizza.
That's the kind of meeting I had recently. We ventured up to Gioia Pizza Restaurant on Norton Street for, any guesses? Yes, pizza and we sat down. The people I was with were regulars here and spoke to the waiters on a first name basis. They ordered some wine.
I scrolled through the menu, looking at all the amazing pizza's they had on offer. An elaborate menu indeed. "Ah, the agony of choice", I muttered to myself, though it may have been louder and more vocalised, remember, the night started with red wine.
I have eaten these pizza's before, but only ever take away, I had never eaten in the actual restaurant, which is huge by the way and has a parking lot. Though on this side of Norton Street it's easy enough to get street parking in one of the nearby less busy streets.
There are three eating sections here, there are two indoor areas and one outdoor area suitable for those who enjoy the cool air wafting over them as they dine and those who enjoy putting cigarette smoke into that cool air.
The pizza arrives and it is what you would call, if you were describing the sizes available, a family sized pizza. Not because it's the size a family would eat, but more because it's the size of a family.
We have each ordered our own pizza and we each have trouble finishing them. But like the troopers we are, we persevere. It's a delicious pizza and the red wine continues.
I walk home from Gioia satisfied, full and a little bit tipsy, certain that next time I go I share a large pizza with someone, better value and less post pizza binge guilt. read more
