How does one distinguish themselves from every other Italian restaurant on a street that is purely dedicated to, well, Italian restaurants? The answer is obvious, you just hang a Ferrari from the roof. That's what Cafe Corretto did and I never head anywhere else when I need my late night pizza fix, or pasta fix, or I just any kind of carbs in general. These guys are open late, your food comes out fast and they don't mind if you're a bit boozy and rowdy. I ordered three large takeaway pizzas at 230am from Corretto's on Saturday night, I also have been there for dinner at a more normal time too. The food is good not great, but I doubt you'd be popping in here for anything more than a quick greasy meal. So, next time you're craving something to soak up the beer, head to Corretto's not Maccas!

Been going here for around 15 years. The food is consistently excellent and quite cheap too.

We were the first booking, and I was the first in the door when the opened to the public -- a more complete review will follow, but, I wanted to get this into Yelp as soon as possible. The staff is a mix of Sydney Rockpool Group staff, The Waiting Room staff, as well as staff from Spice Temple and Rockpool Bar and Grill Melbourne -- and, of course, some new faces. They are still finding their way with the layout, the menu, and each other, but tonight's opening was truly a joy to behold. Pictures and more to follow, and I would give this 5 stars, but I felt that being opening night there is always something to learn and improve upon. Neil Perry was present for the evening, and was a fantastic host. Those of us who are "fans" will feel right at home. The menu is focussed, delicious, traditionally inspired, but creatively enhanced. The wine list is just right for the venue, and the desserts, well, YES PLEASE ALL OF THE ABOVE. Right, that's it for now. Really, just, wow, great start to what I truly hope will be a fantastic addition to Melbourne's foodie landscape. Great job Neil and crew, looking forward to the next visit! --- Update December 31st 2012: My wife and I have just finished our last meal of the year at Rosetta and it was the best yet. The entire meal was flawless; three hours of the best wine, food and service that you can get in Melbourne. I promised to update the review as soon as the crew had hit their stride, and boy, have they. There's a sense of flow between the staff and the location that only comes as people get to know one another and their environment. They know how to duck and weave, how to give way to patrons, to people carrying food and drink, and this "coming together" is reflected in all parts of Rosetta now. For dinner we started by sharing the Insalata di Mare - both my wife and I loved every bite, but the scampi was probably our mutual highlight here. Next, we shared one of the primi dishes: Tagliarini Neri. Described as "Hand picked warm mud crab with fresh chilli and lemon zest" the dish is likely one of the more complicated ones to prepare -- that hand picking is tedious work, and the server did say that since it's not done by machine, there may be a bit or two in the mix that isn't expected. We were more than fine with that, and in our case, no issues. The pasta was absolutely perfect and we both found ourselves using bits of bread to get as much of the lemon/oil as possible. This was probably our favourite dish at Rosetta to date. My wife went with the Maccheroni Giganti and I went with the Anatra - they slightly changed it, now it is served with braised cherries; last time we visited it was peaches and vinaigrette. I must say, I preferred it with the cherries. The skin was crispy, the flavour spectacular. We finished with some of the gelato (wow), and of course had a bottle of wine with our meal - but the experience at Rosetta has, to us, reached that level of enjoyment that is about far more than just the meal itself, it's the interaction with the staff, the way they truly seem to enjoy their jobs, and how much we look forward to going back as soon as we can.

Me: "What do you mean there are no lobsters in Australia? You guys are famous for lobsters"…read more Server: "They're called crayfish". Me: "But I thought you were also famous for those blue giant crayfish"? Server: "You mean yabbies". Me: "OK, so what's a marron"? Server: "It's a fresh water giant crayfish with the taste and texture of a frog". Me, now totally confused: "So what's a bug"? Server: "You Americans call them slipper lobsters". First, the Atlantic is located in the Crown Casino complex. Outstanding ingredients at a hefty price. For the best sampling of Australian seafood, opt for the Atlantic Seafood Platter. Perfectly cooked then chilled Moreton Bay bugs (firm, sweet flesh with the texture similar to lobster ending with a stronger briny flavor), marron (toothsome, smooth texture and flavor very similar to frogs legs with no seafood finish), spanner crab (Hawaii yeeps, this is Kona crab; very sweet, juicy, good salinity), diamond clams (raw surf clams; sweet upfront with notes of cucumber finishing with a briny oceanic wash), Australian rock oysters on the half shell (creamy, briny, fresh oceanic wash), sweet jumbo prawns, and plump cooked mussels. Add a half or whole (about one kilo) perfectly cooked and chilled, uber sweet, firm crayfish and all is right in the world. Other standouts include an excellent, simply split then grilled giant leader prawns. Barely cooked through. Grilling brings out the sweetness. The accompanying chili jam and squeeze of fresh lime brings it to life. The wood fired octopus is also excellent. Garlicky, with balanced salinity. Tender, the char adding texture and bitter notes. Finally the Moreton Bay bug spaghetti is excellent. Chunks of just cooked through bugs mixed with pasta finished in a simple EVOO, garlic, red chili flakes and fresh parsley. Simple and sublime. Tip: Do not pass up the bar menu (available from lunch to closing). The Spanner crab toast with avocado cream and soft shell crab bao with kim chi and pickled radish are good eats! Excellent selection of wines by the glass backed by an great by the bottle list. Heavy emphasis on approachable and unique Australian wines (sparkling shiraz anyone?), with New Zealand and France rounding out the list. Resort pricing. Friendly and knowledgeable service. Resort proper. Sure, prices are higher than other eateries, but The Atlantic delivers a well encompassing Australian seafood experience in one spot.

When we got the urge for pizza, +39 came into mind. There were no reservations available online for the last minute decision so we decided to try to walk-in. It was 515pm when we showed up and they told us they would need the table back by 630pm. Not a problem I said and I was right. We were out of there by 545pm. But we didn't feel rushed at all! The food just came out so fast, hot and delicious. The tables are set up nicely, crammed in without feeling too crowded. I love the specials wall and watching the people in the back cook the pizzas. Service was really good, I'm not sure if it's because they wanted the table back or if it's because they're just good. I'm going to go with the latter because I saw good service with other tables as well. This meal felt really authentic. I've never been to Italy but I've tried a lot of Italy-Italian food and this place ranks pretty high up there. I forgot how much a cocktail with amaretto and lime is sooooooo good. I forgot how hot salami might be better than pepperoni. I forgot that arugula salad with balsamic glaze goes so well with red sauce pizza. Pro tip? Order the lasagna croquettes and keep the sugo for your pizza crust and some of that fresh grated parm for your pizza.
