We stopped by this coffee shop in the morning for our morning cup of coffee! I found this place on Yelp and it is quite popular! It is also a very quaint, quirky and interesting cafe! It's very touristy actually but the coffee was good! It is very tiny so it can be very crowded! Talk about making a home in a shoe! Seemed like there was only enough room for one barista so be patient if you get coffee here! They also sell beans you can buy to take home! Great coffee but very small cup! read more

While visiting Guanajuato our cab driver gave us a bunch of pointers of must places to visit. One of these places was Cafe Conquistador. Since I'm a coffee lover I knew I had to go. Our cab driver said that every morning they grind their coffee and the tunnels get filled with the amazing smell of fresh ground coffee. My husband and I both ordered an americano and we loved it! The coffee shop itself is tiny but very unique. Their walls are covered with currency bills from all over the world which was really neat. If you ever visit Guanajuato which I think everyone should at least once you should definitely stop by this coffee shop. read more

I really wanted to love this coffee shop. It was down the road from my hotel and I could smell the incredible espresso from my window. However, when I arrived promptly at 8 am (opening hour) the woman notified me that I would have to wait 20 minutes ..... so what's the point of "opening" at 8 am if you're not even open‍ anyway my friend has been a raging b*tch bc she didn't get her latte. Every where we went, we ordered coffees but they were really weak, watery and lacking true flavor. This cafe is right next to El Meson de Las Poetas Hotel and once we tried it we made this our spot. Beans are freshly roasted daily, you can watch the magic. The baristas are friendly and skilled in making anything: Lattes, Americanos, Espressos, Cortados, etc. The coffee is flavorful and rich. There is not a long wait and there are only a few chairs. This is the place to get your coffee and go about your business. We even took our lattes to our breakfast spot. No one complained about us bringing our own coffee. I dare you to try this place and be disappointed. read more

This place is pretty awesome. And they do it all without the bells and whistles that large coffee chains rely on. Café Conquistador roasts their own beans, which are sourced in Veracruz. Tiny place, great location above and between El Mercado Hidalgo and El Jardín. Tell them what flavor profile you prefer, and they'll grind your bean and brew your cup on the spot. The barista even let me taste the beans. The second time we went, the big roaster in the front of the shop was going full force, and the whole street smelled fantastic! The third time we went, we bought a kilo and they ground it for us and we are using it for the duration of our travels in Mexico. read more
