It is a bit difficult to review as I would give a different rating for the food than the drinks/atmosphere/service. The food menu is basic, sandwiches, burgers, salads. I thought the food was fine, nothing exceptional. I would recommend coming here for a drink break while exploring the city. The drink menu was far more extensive. They offered a good variety from alcoholic to non, and plenty of coffee drinks. They also have ice cream and desserts as well. We had the homemade mint lemonade (I did need more ice, but our server accommodated this) and the iced coffee with ice cream and Baileys. The mint lemonade was wonderful and refreshing. The iced coffee was basically dessert. Eat elsewhere but stop for a drink and enjoy the atmosphere. Everything was well priced, quite inexpensive. The service was also excellent.

Really good wifi signal and surprised me a bit to see the menu was printed in English. However the menu consisted mainly of burgers and the like which didn't interest me, and so I ended up getting a delicious ice-cream coffee. Service was excellent and very friendly too. BTW, this cafe does seem to mainly cater for the tourist crowd, as when I was there, only heard english in various accents (British/ American) being spoken at all the tables.

The number of choices is mind boggling. Each tea comes with a story of the tea and where it comes. I could spend forever just reading the menu. There is a garden courtyard out back, but unfortunately it is closed in the winter. The Early Grey was excellent. Deep and slightly sweet. No sugar needed. Roibos was also really good. Was a little disappointed with the tea biscuits but only because it was so simple. Expected a little more because the teas are so unique. Just FYI. It also serves at a hookah lounge so can get smoky. Not the best for little kids.

We didn't have too many plans for the night, but decided to hang at this tea house for just a bit on an evening that was particularly frigid, making a hot beverage in our bellies imperative. Not visible from the main road, be prepared to walk down the cutest, covered brick alleyway with world art and some pretty demented (in a good way) statues. If it's winter, when you first walk into Dobrá Čajovna your glasses will fog up from the heat and humidity inside. This is a good thing... because it's basically the only time in the whole trip that I could feel my toes and enjoy not having to be layered in a million shirts and jackets. We were immediately greeted and sat by the nicest man ever. I didn't catch his name, unfortunately, but I've since renamed him 'Leo Sayer' because he earned the title of 'One Man Band' (also one of my all time favorite songs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2o2kdd_Veo). He's the host, server, brewer, chef, guru, entertainment, and more. Leo brought us the tea and food menu, which had about 100 pages of tea. One member of my group is regular tea aficionado, having traveled up, down, and around Japan in search of each region's finest. I enjoyed looking through the multilingual book of teas and reading the descriptions, but I left it to my cohort to decide on a pot for us to split. He chose a high-grade, rare, Japanese green tea that to me tasted like canned spinach and came with some very specific instructions from Leo, but he poured and treated our first infusion, so it was all good in the hood. Our friends got the Lover's Tea for 2, which is served in a super phallic tea pot. I don't know how many of you are familiar with the story of 'Double D*ck Dude' from Reddit, but the pot basically looked like that guy's junk in teapot form. A twisted version of Disney's Mrs Potts, if you will. I got to try it and it was pretty damn good. I couldn't have poured that teapot to save my life, but it was good when Leo or someone else did it for me. I was particularly hungry after missing the opportunity to eat dinner three night's in a row, I insisted on ordering a bunch of stuff even though my friend's told me not to and that I should wait for dinner later. But, I do what I want and what I wanted was to not risk missing dinner a fourth night in a row because restaurants stop serving food so early. So we ordered a cookie plate, some hummus, and perhaps the best sandwich I've ever had in my life. It was a wheat pita with hummus, olive salad, cardamom and all the rest of the spices you'd expect in a chai tea, but sprinkled on a sandwich with some pistachio bits. It was so good that I devoured the first one instantly and flagged Leo down to order a second one. Def get that sandwich. The decor is like being in a Moroccan gypsy cave, and the far wall is line with odd old-timey wooden puzzle games and toys as well as a large mix of both children's, historic, and erotic books arranged and displayed in crates like you'd see in a record store. I loved this location, but if you happen to be in Prague, Budapest, Krakow, Bratislava, Kutná Hora, Burlington, Vermont, Madison, Wisconsin, Portland, Maine, and Asheville, North Carolina, and more throughout the CR, I def recomend checking Dobrá Čajovna out.

You'll find this rather large (but still ultra cozy) cafe next to the Egon Schiele Art Centrum. The museum opens an hour before the art centrum does, but you should know that if you purchase tickets to the art centrum (it's amazing and so worth it) and a coffee over at the cafe, you'll get a free baked treat... which turned out to be what was basically an entire family-sized apple strudel that was made fresh in house. We ordered 4 coffees and had earlier purchased 4 tickets to the museum, so our group basically got 4 pies... that my sugar-loving SO promptly polished off. I had a few bites of my strudel and I can vouch that it was absolutely perfect. As with most food and beverage in the Czech Republic, the prices were pretty much dirt cheap. Like, I don't know why we ever left. For the first time in my life I could walk into a place and afford anything (and in some cases, everything at once) on the menu. For the most part, we had a hard time finding friendly service in CR, but this cafe and one other place also in Český Krumlov were the exception. There was one beautiful older woman working the entire cafe (though we were the only customers at daybreak) and she made the best and most beautiful cappuccino of our entire trip. Again, I don't know why we ever left. The place is decorated with works from independent local and international artists, but remains homey and casual with mis-matched vintage couches and coffee tables. If you walk around this expansive space, you'll notice several additional larger rooms, including what may be a children's play room (mind you, I only saw one single child the entire 3 days we spent roaming Český Krumlov) equipped with fun toys, a grand piano and several nude paintings... in true Egon 'statutory' Schiele fashion. You should also know that there's an annexed special exhibit gallery that you can enter only from the cafe that features some odes to Egon and other interesting works from up-and-coming artists. This cafe (alom with the art centrum and the city of Český Krumlov itself) is an absolute must.
