I'M IN LOVE. This place hides an enchanting hidden secret.
The first time I came here was with a brunch group, good at finding Melbourne's cafe gems. Walking in, I wasn't impressed, this place is small, and looks similar to any cafe.
However, we were seated upstairs, so I climbed the stairway to heaven.
I was met by the mesmerising ceiling, covered in waves of open books. A few books also stick out from the walls.
Interestingly, just as this ceiling installation is unique and absorbing to look at, it is equally unique and absorbing of sound. The resulting pin-drop acoustics are ideal for many having conversations, unlike many Melbourne cafes with horrible shout-to-be-acoustics.
The food is excellent, the pesto in the avo-smash being a particularly successful invention.
Summary: memorable food, memorable service, and an enchantingly memorable room. read more
