It was cold. I was hungry. I felt we hadn't spent enough time in Italy and I had pasta cravings.
Ding ding ding. Café Beluna comes to the rescue with its Italian food and half a dozen coffee drinks.
They have both indoor and outdoor seating, but we opted for indoors. We were attended by a gentleman (possibly the owner) and he was impressive. He kept switching amongst German, Italian, and English, depending on who he was speaking to.
I started with a cappuccino, my companion with a Coke. We then opted to split a pizza as I saw some people order it and it just looked amazing. Well, the size was decent. Not too small, not too big. Perfect for two who want dessert and to be able to walk around after.
As for dessert, this is the real showstopper and the real reason I'm rating as highly as I am. I ordered an apple strudel, and point blank, it's the love of my life. I keep thinking and dreaming and remembering this strudel and it's going to be two months since I left Austria soon. My stomach weeps at the absence of this apple strudel. I'm dying to learn to make one, but still... I don't think it will compare.
The food while delicious pales in comparison to their strudel. Heck, I know they have other desserts, but when something enraptures your sense like that apple strudel, well, that says it all. The end. read more
