Wonderful coffee house on Holy Island. Coffee is delicious, service is very friendly, and the spot…read moreis cozy - especially on a windy day. We didn't eat anything, but I did leave with a t-shirt! Like others mentioned, very environmentally conscious. Wish we had arrived earlier in the day to (sensibly) have more than one! A definite stop for our next visit to the island.

There's a separate on site building for its roastery. The coffee is ace, we got a flat white, a cappuccino and two Americanos and the coffee smell was delicious. I've noted many of the chain coffee places don't have this notable inviting aroma. The home - made cakes and sweet treats were delicious too. I'd give it 5 green stars for its environmental commitments. It was real busy and we had to stand a while to get the bench seating outside in a breezy almost warm day. They had ample room inside but almost everybody opted for outdoors. They say that their mission is to bring top quality, speciality grade, carefully sourced arabica coffee beans from around the world, into the hands of UK coffee lovers. I agree they do. I would have liked to find out if their coffee is shade grown and if they buy from all female farm workers. I wonder too if they decaffeinate their own coffee and if so how? Really worth supporting.

I am so glad that we picked Nero over the much bigger and busier Costa down the street. We sat at some armchairs in the middle of the cafe which were comfortable enough but the sofas in the front looked a lot nicer. However, they were all taken up by people who had already finished their coffee. I had a hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows which really warmed me up after a cold stroll down Marygate. We also got 2 cakes. A chocolate brownie and a traybake. I had the brownie and it was delicious. Much better than the plastic ones they sell in my school canteen! There are lots of places to sit but the cafe has a cosy feel to it, unlike the busy Costa which is very cramped, despite being larger. The staff were friendly and efficient which is important to know if you were considering visiting. Caffè Nero will always be my first choice in Berwick as it was nice and peaceful, and offers good coffee. Very underrated if you ask me.

Seats in the window are limited but why anyone would want to sit there just to be stared at like a zoo animal, by passing benefit claimants who are jelous of your ability to afford a latte and brownie, is beyond me to be honest.
