Don't let the exterior fool you: while this may look like any run-of-the-mill ice cream parlour in…read moreany tourist city, this place has something few places do: pedigree! The one half of the couple who own it, Daniel, is in fact from Sicily, and one sampling of the ice cream, or the coffee, proves it.
Their ice cream is, in short, above and beyond. Unlike anything I've tried in Denmark. Their milk-based ice creams are creamy and yummy, and their sorbets fresh and delightful. Try their chocolate ice cream combined with their lemon sorbet. A match made in heaven. The ice cream game of Ebeltoft has certainly been moved up a notch with this place! Oh, and they even make their own home-made version of that Danish speciality, "guf", a whipped strawberry cream that you add to your ice cream as a topping, just to make it even more sinful. And it is excellent!
And so has the coffee game. With the touch of a true Italian, the coffee that is served here is downright fantastic. They do serve standard filter if you want (and it is actually pretty good), and Daniel will whip up a pretty mean latte, but if you want to see his real skills, try the cappuccino, which has just the right combination of coffee, milk, and foam, or the simply espresso, which has a delightful crema and a nice toasty aftertaste.
They also have an assortment of cakes, sandwiches, so they can cater to more substantial hunger pangs, too.
My go-to place in the charming hamlet of Ebeltoft, for sure.
