Some people like traditional toppings, while others prefer crazy combos. Some people like heavy cheese, some like just a touch. Here's my idea of the perfect pizza...thin to medium crust with just a hint of salt, lots of homemade sauce made with fresh herbs, minimal cheese (preferably fresh mozzarella), and 1-3 toppings (not usually meat, but I can be won over by some good pancetta). Ahhhh...I'm back in Europe. I know this because the architecture, coffee, and gelato make me drool and the pizza doesn't suck! On the way back to the car one night, we saw this place just off the main street of the historical alstadt...we came back a couple of nights later to try out their pizza. It took us awhile to narrow it down to two pizzas from their two full pages of choices. (BTW...one pizza would have been plenty.) We added on a salad and bruschetta to make the perfect meal. This pizza made this pizza snob smile...big. Balance = Perfect. Crust = Thin...crunchy and chewy. Sauce = Excellent...fresh! Cheese = Fresh mozzarella...no grease drips! Overall = One of my favorites! Excellent quality meats. Rivals my favorite NYC pizza from Lombardi's...lecker! Service was fast and friendly. Not once, but twice...we had to go back the next day for more. On our first visit here, we were with a large group...which probably accounted for the spotty service. (It took over 30 minutes to get my drink.) On our second visit, we had Schweizer Wurstsalat...a new favorite of mine. It was not so filling...leaving plenty of room for that butterbretzel.
