Cafe Rossi was recommended by a regular and I have to admit! I got a chance to taste a bit of everyone's dish that is in the pic I attached to this review and it was great! I love the simple fact that no matter if you have a specific diet or vegan/vegetarian as I had some friends with these specific issues. Cafe Rossi caters to all so that was a BIG PLUS for me! It's a great place to dine in the spring/summer when the sun is shining not sure about the experience in the winter! But I'm sure however the weather! Your will experience a great taste with nice staff! I love Heidelberg! I'll definitly visit cafe Rossi when I return! read more

I love sitting outdoors for dinner. I wish the cigarettes were not permitted but... The service was pretty slow and a bit cranky but not enough to lose more than one star. I had a hamburger which was huge and delicious but overshadowed by the French fries! They are possibly the best I've ever had. Two in our group had different pasta dishes. They were great too. Café Rossi is a great spot that offers a variety of services, ambiances, and goods. Whether it be enjoying some cheap coffee at their espresso bars, treating yourself with their fancier food options, or admiring their outside patio whilst sipping on drinks, this café has got it all. If you're seeking more of an actual café experience, don't hesitate to walk straight in and up to the bar to order some of your morning fix - they've got a menu on the left-hand side, and the baristas keep the conversations light and make your drinks quick. There are a bunch of standing tables you can chill at, but it's not the most ideal spot to get work done. For a fancier dine, you can either sit inside or on their patio. I admit their food prices are hefty, but their generous portion sizes and overall delish make up for it. My favorites are their breakfast/brunch options; I've gotten the fancy avocado toast before, and it was extremely fresh and tasty - definitely worth the splurge. The service is lackluster, but probably because they seem to be understaffed most of the time. The one thing that can benefit from changing is the fact that there is no one to greet/tell/guide you through their semi-complicated process of enjoying their drinks bar or dining in, but other than that, it's a great spot. Tonight I had penne with roasted lamb and feta cheese with a brown gravy sauce. It was ok. Considering the out door sitting area and indoor decor this place is a safe choice when you just can't make up your mind. Hey I travel alone for business. I just wanna eat and get back to sleep. I really loved the food here but the place seemed to lack the service. We waited a long time to get our order in, then another long wait for drinks, later we waited for more water and we never received the extra bread we asked for. The food however, was delicious so I am figuring that maybe it was just super busy and around the holidays so maybe they were a bit short staffed? We all enjoyed everything we ordered, the chestnut soup, the salad with duck and chutney, the large green salad (for our vegan), the fowl served over mashed potatoes and I ate the sheeps milk cheese bake with olives and peppers. Everything was so tasty that we didn't care so much about waiting for other things we needed. Our waitress was cute as ever, trying to explain things to us in English. She was very sweet. This is a tough review to write. I like this cafe. I like their coffee and I even like their food (the German food is better than the 'American'). I like the scene this cafe has too. On cold days, the inside room feels comfortable, like a large living room at an old friend's house. On warm days, the outside is heaving with people watching people, watching people. With all of that said, I'm not sure, is this place 'touristy'? Its hard for me to tell. I'm an American living in Germany. I've been here for six months. Am I a tourist or not? Most folks are speaking German, but are they tourists from some far-flung regions of Germany? I just don't know. There are folks speaking other languages too, American English, British English, Italian, Polish, Spanish. etc. Are all these people tourists or are they like me, living in Germany? Why is this review so hard for me to write? Well, I don't want to be promoting 'touristy' places! I like real places where everyday people hang out. I get the feeling that Cafe Rossi is one of those places, but I'm just not sure! read more

Great location and decor. However if you don't enjoy waiting for food then I suggest elsewhere. Staff wasn't very fluent with English

I've only come here for beverages so I can't comment on the quality of the food but my 3 stars are unfortunately because though the beverages are 4-5 stars, the waiter service is often lacking. I don't think it's so incredibly busy that the waitstaff doesn't notice you; it's just that the place is literally so humongous that it's a lot of space for them to cover and they don't always notice you right away if you come in and sit down without alerting them to your presence. Now, that being said, come here and order a beer or get some of their tea because the quality of those beverages is excellent. read more

Cafe Rossi opens daily for breakfast and goes on till late at night. The menu is fantastic, the only problem with it is that there's always too much choice and it's hard to make a decision. As well as standard beers, wines and cocktails they have a great fruit juice menu and, unusually for Germany, a sensible amount of vegetarian food available on the menu. Very large inside with a couple of floors and a terrace outside as well. Perfect people watching, but the staff can sometimes be vaguely useless. read more

I was really suprised to read so many bad opinions about the Rossi. We have been there several times and were never disappointed. The food was always good and can sometimes even be called creative. The service was obliging and fast. The ambience is nice as well - inside and outside - and it is very centrally located. Sometimes it might be too crowded. If you look for a nice location to go with friends I can recommend the Rossi without hesitating. read more

Fun little location. Good food and will let you sit there and chat for a long time. Mixed types of food including vegetarian options for hose so inclined. My colleague recommends the banana beer. Great location in HD. Located right near the tram lines and one of the main hubs of town. Lots of activities to see while dining outside. Inside is great as well. Great food, lovely decor. This is a great place to eat dinner, hang out in Heidelberg with friends or simply taking a break while walking old town. Also a perfect location outside for a coffee in the afternoon or evening weather permitting. Super people watching place. Typical German dishes. Known for its breakfasts too. Great breakfast! We had the German and Italian breakfast platters. Portions were very generous, everything was fresh and service was friendly. Their fresh squeezed orange juice really is fresh squeezed! Oh and this is one of the best cappuccinos we've had in Europe. read more
