My first beer in Norway! 87kr = $11.60 for a 400ml glass of generic Norwegian brew...yikes! But thats normal for Norway... We just happened to fly into Bergen on Norway's Constitution Day...Norway's equivalent of America's 4th of July and France's Bastile Day...it was huge party in Bergen with many Norwegians in traditional attire...checkout my photos! Bartender was super friendly and the place has a classy, but retro and casual vibe. Food prices looked normal on the menu(for Norway), but I never got to eat here. Next time! (Note: At time of this review, the US dollar was up 50% against the Norway kroner...$1 = 7.5kr vs $1 = 5kr just a couple years ago...so this beer could've been $16+ each!!!!) read more

Lovely spot in the city centre in Bergen. Great spot for lunch/brunch and not too expensive. Typical dishes such as omelettes, sandwiches, salads, toasts etc. Relaxed atmosphere perfect for a group of friends or a family. Recommend. read more

Loved this place! I got a shrimp sandwich and I didn't really know what to expect, but the shrimp was luscious and plump, and the sandwich was fresh and tasty. The cafe was quiet, intimate, and cozy. I loved it here! Best little spot for somewhere cute to sit and eat! read more

Attitude. Really? You're in the service industry? I saw a cute brochure for this place and decided to check it out. I walked in and asked at the bar if I should sit or order at the bar. Was told to order at bar, so I placed my order. "What table are you at?" she asked. "Well, I don't know. I just walked in." "I NEED a table number to put in the order," she told me, an annoyed look on her face. I just pointed to an empty table. Seems pretty common that people in the service industry in Bergen just don't want foreigners in their city. Fine. I won't be back. Ordered the garlic shrimp au gratin. Came with salad. Was alright. Contrary to others here, we enjoyed our experience here completely. We met a young military woman going for a training weekend in Stavanger and sitting next to us on the boat. She's from Bergen and told us to try it. It seems like the place to be though as it was packed. We had baked feta and garlic shrimps which were extremely tasty. Actually quite shocked to see that I'm the first person to review this place seeing as it's always completely packed when I go in there. This place is okay. It is loud and not as cozy as it makes itself out to be. The drinks are fairly good but I think the food leaves something to be desired. Although Norwegians may have another opinion. I have had their paninis and salads and it was just okay. Nothing really worth spending over $20 on. I used to meet friends here often due to the convenient location but it by no means was my favorite place. read more

From the U.S. and stopped in after reading positive reviews. Being from the States, we are unaccustomed to using credit cards with chips in them but knew that it was common in Norway and made sure to get them for the trip. This was our first use and I got serious attitude from a staff member for fumbling with it. Extremely disappointed with that treatment which had me wondering if that attitude was what we had to look forward to for the duration of our stay (fortunately not). I came for breakfast on a Tuesday. It has a very cute atmosphere and plenty of space, as well as outdoor seating. Very nice waiter. My cappuccino was amazing and I ordered the Feta and Sun-dried tomato omelette and it was delicious. A bit pricey, but it was a pretty large portion and came with toast and salad. read more

This is a very friendly and efficient café in the centre of Bergen. We were looking for somewhere to eat on a (very) rainy Sunday lunchtime and this place stood out like a beacon. The food is eclectic, with a wide range of things ranging from sandwiches to burgers and all things in between. I went for the vege burger-a large slab of really tasty beans, with sweet potato chips and salad. Others had the prawn gratin which they said was excellent, as was the meat burger. Service was chatty and friendly. This is the sort of place you can easily come back to at lunchtimes again and again. Prices were reasonable for Norway. Recommended. read more

I was about to settle for a kebab when I stumbled across this place. The 'take out' sign made me curious about their menu and prices. I was pleased to see that it was actually fairly affordable and an interesting menu. it is set up for you to seat yourself and then order at the bar. Make sure you know the table number.
