Not everything is organic, but they make an effort, which is more than can be said about most of Istanbul. If you are like me, and coming from the west coast of the US, perhaps organic food is important to you, and the idea of knowingly eating pesticides makes you cringe? I had been going to Healin Foods religiously every day, but they aren't fully organic either, and I discovered they were heating up frozen food, (possibly in a microwave?) so I decided to go searching for a good solid salad, and expand my repertoire This place is unique and I feel quite satiated eating here. They may have other things on the menu besides salad, but I couldn't tell. It isn't particularly clear as an English speaker, but I was totally content with the salad. The honey mustard dressing was great (although it was a bit bland, so I asked for extra sauce, and I pulled out my smoked sea salt that I travel with in order to enhance the flavor) There was a lovely woman who spoke English, who had amazing cheerful energy. She was super helpful, and her vibe definitely lifted the vibe of the whole place. The other employees seemed serious but she was a ball of joy, and you could feel her good energy in the food just from her presence Overall, the salad was great, and I feel very satiated and nourished after eating here. It's definitely worth a visit, and the rustic unique vibe is quite charming, especially when you consider that they are growing the lettuce themselves. So cool to see the sprouting of health consciousness here in Turkey! It makes me really appreciate how readily available it is on the west coast.

I've found one of the best vegan cookbooks ever accidentally in this venue. Vegan's are very welcome! Go and give this place and the idea some love! Think of a beef stroganoff without mustard and pickles, in a small delicate yufka (the namesake thin lavash bread) with their signature purple beet sauce, fries and pickles, formed into a wrap. Their wrap sizes are half of what you're used to in Turkey, so plan to have 2!!! The vegetarian and cheese options are delicious too, and they have other nice kebab options and especially döner during weekday lunch hours. Service is considerate and quick, comfortable surrounding, not really a table service place, more set up as a fast food joint. I also like the çöp şiş yufka which has the more expected grilled meat flavor.

Again, this is a great sunday ordering place if you are to lazy to cook and bored of the standard Turkish kebab. The place is nice and warm to relax with a small group of friends. The sitting seats with comfy and there is a place outside to eat also if you want fresh air. The employees were nice but hardly spoke or understood any English, so basically Google Translate will be your best friend. Also I recommend the Chicken Caesar salad which was pretty taste. The wraps can be pretty filling, so I would say get a small one if your not to hungry.

The Heirloom Cafe is run by Dilek and her son Ahmed. Dilek is on of the most gracious and personable hostesses I've met in a long time. Since I've already stayed at the Heirloom Istanbul, - the adjoining apart hotel - before, Dilek knows me and my likes already and so every time I walk into the cafe she welcomes me with a big smile and when I sit down at the table in the little outside area, she soon brings over my Turkish coffee. Last time I was using the cafe as my office with my colleague and Dilek treated us with some little goodies from the kitchen: some beans, olives and freshly made bead. - She said that working brains need some substance. She also let us taste the muffins she had just made; they contained no refined sugar, but grape syrup instead. The breakfast at the Heirloom Cafe is also fantastic: freshly made croissants, cheeses, honey, jams, olives and eggs in any kind of variety. (I prefer the eggs Turkish style, with tomatoes, chilies and feta cheese.

Anyhow, it's really healthy and affordable, and as the other reviewer said, an amazing and cute location. Precious garden, sweet details.
