After a long day walking the streets of Istanbul it is a relief to find a place to sit down and enjoy a turkish coffee. Like always when a café or restaurant is placed close to a popular tourist attraction (the Galata Tower in this case) I get a bit sceptic, often it is aimed just toward tourists and many times the product / service is overpriced and not that good.
In this case I was happily surprised. The café seems to be run by some older turkish people, the exterior (we sat outside) is tastefully decorated and you get a genuine turkish vibe with the low tables, table cloths and cobblestone on the ground.
We ordered a couple of turkish coffees and enjoyed the view of the Galata Tower while the sun almost shone through the clouds and one of the older men who worked there walked around swapping out ash trays, greeted customers and seemed to enjoy his daily routine.
I have not tried any of their food, but the coffee was good, reasonably priced and the service was fast and friendly. read more
