My mother has Alzheimer's disease and we want to transport her from her home in Southern Pines to where we live here in Raleigh. I immediately thought of Spring Arbor as the place for her to go. My mother-in-law got such great treatment and loving care and that's what I want my mother to receive. It's hard enough making that hard decision to place her in a facility. I just want her to go to a place that I know will care for her the same way that I would.

My family had experience with three different facilities and the care, concern, and communication that I saw from spring arbor staff was top notch. The facilities are clean and the staff is incredibly professional. My grandmother recently passed and the staff went to extraordinary measures to provide her comfort and showed such generosity of time and spirit to my family in a very difficult time. Truly, they made our experience as positive and low stress as it possibly could have been--I am so thankful my family was able to entrust my grandmother to their care.

Two slats in the blinds were too short horizontally, which I pointed out to the sales manager a month before Dad moved in; when he did move in, the slats weren't replaced. They didn't give him a proper shower or shave for a month! The PT and OT aren't on a regular schedule, and he waited up to 2 weeks before a PT and OT visited him. This goes against their policy, which is receiving it twice a week for 10 weeks. A couple of caregivers have just walked in the door w/out knocking, violating his privacy. He also received a bill for $21,000 for his 1st month! There were and still are other problems, which I told the coordinator about, and she's doing her best to help, so there's that. Anyway, a friend's dad stayed at Brighton Gardens and really liked it, so look into them as an alternate.

The ED Heidi (she is very nasty and rude)And Coordinator Terri (also very nasty and rude and tells other care members business)shows favoritism, they let me go because of behavior and conduct when it was a problem with me and 2 other people which the two other people yelled in my face and cussed at me but NOTHING happened to them but because I took up for myself I was tooken off the schedule and terminated 3 days after mind you those same ladies who been there 5 and 10 years were able to stay on the clock and keep there Job I was the only one under review but not the only one arguing. I've warned Terri many of times how her leads were treating us care members and how nasty she was nothing was never done nor did she ever respond. They didn't like the fact I didn't let them talk to me any kind of way.... It has been plenty of times a resident falls and the 3rd shift lead puts them back in bed with no injury report or no vital check or nothing or times where they done get residents up to change or feed them I've witnessed this with my own eyes from care members from 1st and 2nd shift I've witnessed leads treat and act nasty to residents hitting them and almost knocking them down I've witnessed many of arguments between leads and care memebers and nothing was done about they behavior or conduct but because I spoke up for myself someone In my face yelling I get terminated I wish family of residents knew how they family got treated and talked to there and when they come around they act like they treat them so good it's all a front.. get your family out of there don't sent your family there. Terri don't care about no one all she care about is a vacation cause she is never there. That's why they are under staffed now and can't keep anyone because the management is so poor down to the Ed's coordinator and leads...they have bugs always crawling around in residents rooms rats residents always falling and they never have a reason why because they are not watching or caring for them they way they should

For over $6,000 a month, you would expect a certain standard of service they claim to provide--but that could not be further from reality. My mom entered with dementia that was still mild; she was independent and did not need memory care. We paid for a room, cleaning service, and medication dispensing. Yet her room was consistently dark, dingy, and NEVER cleaned. The entire facility often smelled of urine. After repeated complaints about the filth, nothing changed--I eventually bought my own supplies and cleaned her room and bathroom myself. Even worse, as my mom's dementia progressed, the staff NEVER communicated with us about her episodes or what was happening. How can a facility responsible for people's loved ones fail to notify families about their care and wellbeing? For the cost charged and the level of neglect received, this facility is unacceptable. DO NOT send your loved ones here.

I had reviewed 3 other facilities and took my time in evaluating each as I was not pushed to make a quick decision. I made a number of inquiries to them as I learned more about Long Term Care and determining what was important for the care of my wife. The sales group was very helpful and getting information that I requested and provided information they anticipated that I might need in planning. After about 4 weeks, I decided that TerraBella North Ridge was the facility that met my budget and care concerns. Lot of paperwork to be completed but that went pretty smooth. I made a number of trips to visit my wife at different times to see how the memory care unit was being run. The care staff were impressive in how they care for the residents. They are outgoing and helpful in the care of the residents. The memory care unit has residents with various needs and they work to meet them. I was not aware that TerraBella has PAs that can take over the role of Primary Care Provider so the residents do not have to go out which would have been a problem for me. There are also long term pharmacies that can provide the needed medications that packaged to TerraBella requirements. I continued to learn other things the care group does such as some hair trimming and trimming finger nails. I checked on the dining offerings and the food served was good. They have food that is prepared in different ways that the resident may need. I have been impressed with TerraBella in providing all the needed care that my wife needs. I would recommend that you setup an appointment to see the facility and talk with with staff there if you are looking for assisted living or memory care.

I don't know how the residents sleep, or think for that matter. While the resident dog is cute, there are occasions it barks a bit too much. For as much as one has to pay here, the only inside outlets are the lobby and the dining room. There is no library or crafts room - pretty disappointing. It seems these would be basic things for a place like this to have. Bottom line, residents appear very bored and have nothing but the 4 walls in their room and meal time. Executive director has been in place for over a year but we've never seen her. If your loved one is on hospice, they are the ones who you will get comfort meds from but don't expect them to be on your loved one's schedule and making an effort to truly keep them comfortable.....one med tech for entire facility means you will wait...and wait..and wait. Management won't come by to check on family - but they will argue with you if you try to ask questions about why your loved ones is sleeping directly on mattress (no sheet) or why they are wearing same clothes for 3 days or why they are going to instruct staff to bring food to room even though loved one hasn't been alert or awake for 3 days. They just hide in their office and don't answer calls for help from staff. They simply don't care and can't be bothered. If your loved one is in memory care, you can not come and go freely...you are at their mercy because they are the only ones who have access code for those areas. It's like your loved one is in jail and even though you are paying for the facility, you have no rights. If you have any other choice, don't choose this facility. Ever.
