Caddo River Rats Canoe and Tube Rental is located on the beautiful Caddo River in Caddo Valley, AR. Caddo River Rats offers tube and canoe rentals, plus plenty of parking behind a fence with shuttles to take you to the beginning of the river. Caddo River Rats has on site restrooms and a picnic area in the shade. Caddo River Rats has built a dock on the bank of the river with a staircase to make it easier to climb the bank at the end of your float. Caddo River Rats also has great food provided by River Ridge Desserts. Stop by and see Rowdy, Jordan, and Russell for your next Caddo River Float trip experience. You can find Caddo River Rats by taking Exit 78 off I-30 and turning South towards Arkadelphia. Caddo River Rats is just before the Caddo River bridge on the LEFT SIDE of Hwy 7/67.

Yesterday, for July 4th weekend, we made a 3 hour trip down to the Caddo River Rats to float. We brought our own tubes, and only had to pay for parking and a shuttle to drop us off. Everyone was SO very nice, especially the lady that let us go even when the river was higher than normal (Bc the dam was letting water out earlier than usual); and our shuttle operator (Brayden?) was particularly extra nice, and made sure a our questions were answered, and that we felt comfortable before he let us go. Since the river was high, it was flowing pretty quickly which ended our trip down river too soon. River Rats were nice enough to shuttle us back up to the drop off point, and let us float down again! We'll be definitely returning soon... And had a very fun, pleasant 1ST TIME experience floating down the beautiful Caddo river!

    Great experience!!!

I wanted to be sure to come back and write a review as I couldn't find many newer reviews prior to…read moregoing. I'll start out by saying that the owners were great!!! We originally booked a camp side with electric and water for 2 days and would float on our last full day. We decided to extend our campsite and change our float to the next day AND swap to kayaks Instead of tubes. When we went to the office to make the changes and they were more than happy to help us as if it were no big deal! I also watched the owner down by the river everyday we were there just greeting people and chatting and helping in any way possible. I'm pretty sure I saw him pulling someone's car that had broke down. Just a testament to how helpful they are. The Campsite- my wife and I got site L for 3 days. The owner had just finished mowing the grass as we pulled up and it was very clean and level. I had read one old review that said the electric pole was a hundred feet away or something so I showed up with 5 extension cords. lol to my surprise, the electric pole was right at the side and 10 feet away from our tent! But I was ready. The water spigot was also right behind that so it was all very close. There was a nice fire ring and a camp style grill and the picnic table was in great shape. No one was in the site to our right but there were some folks in the site to our left but there was just enough space that it was no bother. The bathrooms were just a short walk up the hill. There was one men's and one women's restroom that stayed clean the whole time we were there and there were two showers, each in its own individual room. All 4 doors had pin pad knobs so they stayed locked and you needed a code to get in, they didn't give us any issues. The showers were push knobs so you have to hold them to keep water flowing but the temps were good. A little warm for my tastes but my wife loved it. The River- we decided on the kayaks instead of the tubes as we have tubes the river a few times and wanted to check out a little more. Since we were camping at the shuttle site, we just had to jump on a van once we were ready and they took us on a ten minute ride to the river. The driver was very knowledgeable and gave us some good tips. We ultimately floated for about 4 hrs to get back. The river was around 5.3 river level gauge so we did have a few spots where I had to get out but my wife slid right over. Guess I should lose a few pounds hahaha. It's definitely an easy paddle and kid friendly. There were a few spots with some faster moving water but nothing to be alarmed about. All in all it was a great experience. I will say, if you are looking for a quiet, in the woods campsite, this isn't it. It is close to the road so you hear every truck going down the road and those boys in Central Arkansas love their glasspack mufflers! lol but if you are looking for somewhere to camp after floating the river, this place is perfect! You don't have to drive to a shuttle area and then when you get done, you are back at camp. Caddy River Camping & Canoe, you guys are doing a great job!!

There was nothing bad about the park, it just wasn't anything extra special. The swimming area was VERY small, that was our biggest complaint. The water in the swimming area was very warm and only somewhat clear. If we had rented a boat and gone tubing, I'm sure we could have found clearer, cooler water, but we weren't looking to spend the money this time. The park was beautiful, lots of tall trees helped keep the camper cool. It was not crowded, in fact we were by ourselves on one end of the loop, which we really enjoyed. They offer back-in and pull through trailer spots (ours was pull through), as well as tent pads, and all sites included a nice woodsy area with a picnic table and fire ring. We knew that there are no sewer hook ups on site, but did not know that there are no water hook ups. There is a fresh water station to fill your tank on the way in though. The bathrooms were not the best. There is no air, fans or even windows to circulate air, making it extremely hot when drying off from a shower. The price was great at $14 per night and the staff was friendly. There are restaurants, gas stations and grocery stores with in a 20 minute drive.

They have a variety of boats and decent prices. The boats are in excellent condition and were very spacious. I've been on a quite a few houseboats in my day and these blow the ones at Echo Bay, Lake Mead, Nevada out of the water. LUXURY houseboats with waterslides, washer & dryers, ice markers, a wet bar on the fly deck (roof), and a Jacuzzi. They come in 2, 4 or 6 bedroom versions of various lengths. Some have one bath, some have one & a half, some have two full baths. They all have TV and if you want Satellite tv dishes. They come with CD players and outdoor seating on the front deck and the top deck. The lake has been rated the cleanest lake in the USA by the EPA and it certainly looks and feels like it. Hill's provided us with excellent service and training on how to drive a houseboat. They were friendly and funny, and just down right GOOD PEOPLE. We are definately going to go back and vacation with them again!

If you like being around and in water that is clear and clean then this it. When you get out of the water and dry off, it's like you never been in the water. The lake is the cleanest in America per EPA. We rented a 66' houseboat, received a great deal. The owners are new, since late 2011. The houseboats are around 10 years old and do show wear and tear. This didn't bother me at all since the furniture, kitchen, bathrooms and mattresses were clean, comfortable and in good shape. I didn't feel dirty or icky which is my point. The owner told me they plan to upgrade their fleet of houseboats. I took a good look at their engine and generator and both were in really good shape. The 66 footer has 6 bedrooms (one of them has about a 4 ft ceiling, kids loved it, full kitchen and two full baths. The main attraction is the slide and spa, lol. What a hit with everyone. Adults and kids spent most of the time sliding and sitting in the hot tub. We planned on fishing, unfortunately it was really tough. You can catch all the bream you want, but anything bigger is scarce in August. We did catch a gar though. That was fun. Now, here is what to expect. The first thing you are going to experience is all of the paperwork you will sign. Just like anything you rent you will be responsible. Don't let this intimidate you. If you abuse it or lose it (like chairs) then you will be paying, however, the owner is not looking to nitpick so if you take care of their property, then you don't have anything to worry about. Your main concern is the engine and propeller.. If you aren't careful where you are going then you could hit a submerge tree or ground. If you do, you may lose a propeller and you will have to replace it. They are plastic since it's better to lose the prop then the outdrive. The lake is big enough and deep enough that if you are careful, this is not an issue. Part of this is the fact that you will be responsible for beaching and tieing up the boat. There is no anchor (it is a rocky lake) so what you do is beach your boat at night and then tie your two ropes to two separate trees. Not a big deal once you have done it. Be sure to have the ropes far enough apart (make a big V) so that the wind can't blow your boat around. We ran the generator the entire time and rarely used the engine, our gas bill was $400. Not sure what was the price./gallon, but if I was to guess we probably burnt around 80 -100 gallons of gas, which seems reasonable for 4 days of running a house AC the entire time. Since these are rental units, you may experience things breaking on you. We had two issues: 1) Hot tube quit heating up and 2) Sewer smell kicked up when we had some wind gusts. In both cases, the owner quickly responded and tried to make everything right for us. I was impressed how helpful they were. In summary, it was a great vacation and we all loved it. There wasn't a lot of boat traffic. We saw probably 2 - 4 boats a day. The owner and staff were very helpful and polite. They are wanting this to be a good experience and want you back. They offer a deal where you rent so many times and you will get free days. There is a marina right next to them that looked to be in great shape. They have a little shop, plus offer diving. Apparently, spearfishing is big on this lake and I was told you can go down 50ft to spear. Overall, it was a great experience, Kids loved it. Owner was very helpful and had the right attitude to be successful. Someone is there 7 days/24 hours. BTW, I have no affiliation with the owners. My goal is to have you learn from my experiences so that your houseboat vacation is better than what you expect. Have fun!
