The bartender (GP) told me they don't serve food but kindly gave me other alternatives. As I was leaving I thanked him and said I would be back for a night cap after dinner. It was a pub after all and I am a sucker for them. When I came back I asked for a Canadian whisky (only my 2 nd time in Canada and I've heard that they have the best rye whisky) he only had one offering Canadian Club. I found this odd but said ok I'll take it. Then he informed me that they only keep it there for Canadians from the west that visit. He then pointed out all of the other whisky s and scotches on the top shelf that I have already had, I guess I was looking for something exclusively Canadian. I asked if I could start a tab and he said no because he was getting off soon. I said ok well I can pay with a credit card or USD. he said they don't take credit cards and if I pay with USD they will give me $9 Canadian for every $10 USD. The other option is that there is an ATM upstairs. I looked at the exchange rate earlier that day when I got to Canada and it was $1.25 Canadian for $1.00 USD. I didn't expect that they would exchange my money at the going rate however an even 1:1 would have been acceptable. Not wanting to make a scene I gave him $10 USD for my $6 Canadian dollar whisky. He said ok you get $9 Canadian for $10 American minus $6 Canadian for the drink here is your $3 Canadian change. I set $1 on the bar and got the fuck outta there. I love pubs and I would have definitely stayed longer and ordered more drinks if I had been treated fairly but I felt as though maybe that was the point. They didn't want my business. The place looks promising but either their policy towards American visitors is really bad or that bartender is just an asshole.

Unfortunately, while the food here was excellent, the service experience didn't quite match the glowing reviews I had read beforehand. To start with the positives: the food was genuinely amazing. The dish my friend and I ordered was flavorful, well-prepared, and enjoyable from start to finish. The kitchen was also impressively fast, which I really appreciated. That said, the service felt overwhelming rather than welcoming. From the moment we arrived for our reservation, the host who escorted us to our table seemed uninterested and not very engaging. It wasn't rude, but it didn't feel particularly warm or inviting either. Another issue was the menu being entirely online through a QR code. The menu had many pages, and before we even had enough time to properly look through everything, multiple servers approached us several times asking if we were ready to order. What made it more confusing was that we didn't seem to have one dedicated server; different staff members kept coming to the table throughout the night. Even after we ordered and received our food quickly, servers continued checking on us very frequently; honestly, every few minutes. While I understand they were trying to provide attentive service, it became distracting and made it difficult to relax, enjoy the meal, and have a conversation with my friend. After being asked repeatedly if everything was okay, it started to feel less attentive and more rushed, almost as if we were being encouraged to finish up quickly. The restaurant itself was also quite dark, to the point where it was difficult at times to locate the bathroom or even find the exit comfortably. Overall, I truly loved the food and would compliment the kitchen without hesitation. However, the dining experience itself felt rushed and overly monitored, which took away from what could have been a much more enjoyable evening.

It's fancy yet simple. I ordered mostly entrees for this visit. I had their fried calamari. It was pretty good. You know a bar has a decent cooking staff when the fried calamari are well done. The ingredients were fresh and it wasn't too burned (it usually tells they are not using old/cheap oil). Then I had their tuna tataki. It was disappointing. The fish was not grilled properly in my opinion. Then again, it's not a Japanese restaurant so I guess I should've known better. I wasn't very impressed by it. We have lived in this area for awhile, and have been eyeing this rotisserie for awhile. It is very small, but always looks well-kept from the outside. Today we decided to try out the food, and thankfully were not disappointed. The interior is VERY tiny, but very clean and surprisingly inviting for such a petite establishment. The owner was behind the counter and extremely friendly, even before my husband (who is bilingual) told him in passing that this was our first time there. Hubby ordered the special of the day (the club sandwich) and I ordered a chicken breast. Both came with a nice-sized side order of fries, a container of their BBQ sauce, and a container of coleslaw. After visiting all the other popular chicken places (St-Hubert, Fusee, Scores, etc) where I swear they all use the same sauce base with less or more pepper per place, Vic's uses an entirely different sauce than I am used to, and I REALLY enjoyed the difference. More tomato-y with a kick, and went VERY well with both the chicken and the fries. They accept cash, Interac, Visa, and MasterCard, and deliver as well as have group specials.
