Beaver Mountain has many issues that make it a frustrating place to ski. I've tried to overlook…read morethese as I've skied there from time to time over the years, but in late Dec 2024, I was harassed by a ticket checker in what turned out to be a humiliating experience. That experience has prompted this review. To begin, the lifts are all old and very slow. With only 1600 feet vertical on its biggest run and very little, if any, terrain that is actually above intermediate level, a good intermediate skier can descend from summit to base in about five minutes. The lift ride is a little more than about 10 minutes. So, three hours of "skiing" is actually two hours on the lift and one hour skiing, if you don't have to wait in line. But, if the lift lines are long, as they always are on weekends, the amount of time skiing as opposed to riding the lift and standing is even less, sometimes much less. The lifts are dangerous, especially the Beaver Face lift. There are no safety bars on the face lift or Harry's Dream lift and the safety bars on the Marge's Triple lift are not functional. Only the Little Beaver lift has a useable safety bar. The lifts are still loaded manually, often with distracted or belligerent operators. Tickets are scanned manually and lines are disorganized. Ticket checkers and lift operators are often rude to skiers and display annoyance at having to deal with them. Ticket and rental lines are long. Tickets are stamped manually, and a surcharge is added when purchased online, but still require standing in line to pick up. Parking is inadequate, especially on weekends. They advertise as family friendly, but the vibe I get is not family friendly. The attitude among employees impresses me as one of subdued aggravation at having to deal with customers. The only positive things about Beaver Mountain are the all-volunteer ski patrol and the ski school, although the latter is best suited for beginner and intermediate skiers. If you want a good ski experience close to Cache Valley, try Snowbasin. Snowbasin, a far superior resort, is only an additional 30 to 45 minutes from Logan. Snowbasin is more expensive than Beaver, but if your goal is to spend less money so you can in stand in line and put up with the aggravation of the place, then Beaver Mountain is the place for you.

Some sites had barely enough room to park a car. Many of the campsites have a long walk to the restroom along narrow trails and crossing a creek (not fun if you need to visit at nighttime!) My campsite was on Loop B which included driving down a steep, washed-out road (good thing my car doesn't ride low) and through a flooded part of road.

It's an older building off the beaten path with teeny-tiny bathrooms and and an even smaller parking lot. Now, on to my review. I called the front desk from Salt Lake City quite late in the evening. I was trying to push through as far as I could, but I knew I only had maybe an hour left in me before I started nodding off at the wheel. I almost pushed the "reserve" button on the Best Western just outside of town, but the cheapskate in me just could not warrant the $100 pricetag. I mean, I stayed at BW in Arizona the night before for HALF that. On to Yelp. I plotted my course and looked for the little pins along the way. I found this one with a pretty solid rating (thanks fellow Yelpers!) and called. The lady who answered was downright kind. I mean, really, really sweet. The price she quoted me was more my speed (uner $50). She had one room left. She told me that she turns in before midnight, but would be willing to wait for me as long as I promised to call if my plans changed. Mdme. GPS took me right to it, and, sure enough, the (very young-looking and beautiful) owner met me at the desk. She checked me right in and told me I got the "fun room" - meaning it had a separate bedroom besides the main room. (Side note - traveling as a group or with kids? Ask for room #9) We swapped a couple of stories. Her darling calico deemed me her newest best-best-best friend (and kept me company as I unpacked my van later). I got me a good, old-fashioned metal key on one of those diamond-shaped plastic jobbies. This amazingly kind woman even moved her own car so I'd have a place to park for the night. The front of the building is like an English garden. Well kept, blooming flowers, and little patio sets adorn the walkways. Enchanting. The room itself is nothing much - though (other than the postage-stamp sized bathroom), they are spacious. I chose to sleep in the bedroom area, as it was DARK and absolutely silent. I mean, sleepy-town zombies are a-coming quiet. Ahhhh.... The room is equipped with a modest flat-screen TV, a microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker, and well-maintained AC unit. The free wifi is easy to hook up to and works great. (Writing this on it now) The beds are quite comfortable. Did I mention how wonderfully quiet it is? The place was full, but you wouldn't know it. I did not hear a neighbor that evening or this morning. In fact, I kind of overslept. I never do that, even at home. One more note: the place is absolutely SPOTLESS. Housekeeping deserves an Olympic gold medal. This weary traveler found it charming. I would absolutely stay here again.

(There are more reviews on google) The campsites have grass underneath them, so they are not dusty and very cushy to sleep on, very large outdoor fire pits, and picnic tables. The showers and toilets were out of order for renovation when we visited so they were porta potties located conveniently and they were very clean to use. Both of the large pools are very beautiful and fun. They may not be warm enough to go in in the winter for some people when it's snowing but late summer early autumn when we were visiting, they were a nice temperature for the outside weather. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. They also have a nice playground for kids and a half court basketball hoop. Would recommend staying here and swimming in the water!
