We began taking our dog, Spankie, to Front Range soon after we relocated to Fort Collins. We had…read moretried a couple of vets locally before we settled on Front Range. Once we found Front Range we felt as though we had found treasure. At the other places we tried we found front office personnel were too aloof, distracted and too often completely uninterested in providing quality customer service. But at Front Range we found a shift in that paradigm. The front desk staff are friendly, upbeat and obviously glad to have you there. They enjoy talking with you and getting to know both you and your pet. It's obvious they enjoy animals and their human companions. This is a ditto to the back office techs. They get to know and care about your pets in a way that communicates how much they enjoy their work. Whether you're talking with Beth, Angelo. Juanita, Rebecca, Melissa or any of the staff, they happily share their thoughts on what they enjoy about your pet and the different little things they notice and value. It is clear they truly take interest in your pet's comfort. Their empathy demonstrates the nurturing energy they bring to your animal's healthcare. During our time, at Front Range, we have dealt with several of the veterinarians who practice there, Dr. McCarthy, Dr. Newcomer, Dr. Baker. Each of them is entirely committed to maintaining your pet's quality of life and health and honestly addressing and issues that may be occurring. The organization as a whole is very conscientious about doing what they can to make the quality of care as affordable as possible, giving you options that allow you the piece of mind of knowing you are doing all you can for your animal family member. We learned well that the personnel in this establishment are dedicated to you and your pet feeling nurtured, tended to and safe. Several months ago, our sweet little Spankie passed on, he was 20 years old. That's a long life for a dog, and we in large part, thank all the staff at Front Range for helping us keep him healthy and happy in those last couple of years. And when the time finally came for us to make the decision to assist our little guy in letting go and transitioning to a place without pain, the gentle-hearted staff at Front Range were there with their hearts wide open and their profound care ever present to make Spankie's closing moments with us as meaningful, painless and safe as could ever be humanly possible. With our ever undying gratitude, I express to anyone looking for an exemplary veterinary clinic to look to Front Range. They are a fine spirited crew of people who truly love animals, value the animal's family and care deeply about the long term relationships that create true quality customer service.

I heard nothing but positive feedback regarding how the visit went (and no one would be more honest than my Mother). I would say it was a win!

Immediately the next day I had an e-mail from Allison with some time suggetsions; unfortunately none of those times worked for me. A day passed before I was going to e-mail back and let them know that I had to get her in somewhere urgently and would have to find another place, but I woke up to another e-mail from Allison letting me know they had a last minute opening if I was able to come in. I called right away to confirm it was still available and got my sweet cat, Tomato, in that day. I was so impressed that she remembered that I was trying to get a last minute appt, and reached out about their opening. All of the women working there were so kind and patient with my little Tomato and I believe they made the experience as least stressful as possible for her. Two days later they sent an e-mail checking in on my girl. The location of the clinic is a little far down College, towards Loveland, but it was 100% worth the drive. I'm so sad that I'm going to be leaving the Fort... I wish that I could take Dr. Altman and her team with me to Seattle and I'm sure Tomato does as well. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this team for any of your pet's veterinary needs. There might be cheaper places to get vaccinations and stuff done, like various low-cost clinics, but I do believe that you get what you pay for as far as experience goes for your pet and I'd rather know that my cat is in the loving hands of a veterinarian who knows me and cares about my baby. Thank you, Dr. Altman and team!

I have used CSU exotics emergency several times over the years and have been pleased with the care…read moremy rabbits have received. This last visit was no different. The team in charge of my rabbits care were exceptional - knowledgeable, communicative, helpful. However, I have noticed pricing has gone up substantially, especially for "companion" rabbits. As any rabbit person knows, a bonded pair should not be separated if at all possible. My rabbit was brought in initially by himself and hospitalized for a few days before I was able to bring his bonded friend. The staff all commented on how much happier, calmer and overall better my ill rabbit seemed with his friend with him. What I was charged for the "companion" rabbit was astonishing. $2,500 for less than 48 hours. A rabbit who stayed in the same enclosure as my ill rabbit and was healthy. Did not need any medical treatment or intervention. I wanted to write this review so that others who may be in the same situation with a bonded pair are prepared for the cost. My total bill for my ill rabbit was very high, but I can more easily justify it based on the care he was receiving. My "companion" rabbits bill - I am extremely disappointed about. Especially since this is a teaching veterinary school, I fear it is teaching future veterinarians to overcharge which could potentially limit owners from being able to afford taking their animals to receive the care they need.

I cannot express how deeply disappointed and heartbroken I am over my experience at CSU Veterinary…read moreTeaching Hospital. I brought my dog, Lupo, there during a medical emergency while we were traveling from North Carolina, and what followed was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life. We were already in a state of panic, far from home, trying to make the best decisions we could. Despite that, there was a profound lack of communication, compassion, and transparency throughout his care. We were never offered the option to stay in any rooms, just to rest for a little. Being 45 minutes away while our dog was critically ill created unnecessary distance during the most important moments of his life. The most devastating part is that we were only contacted when things had already taken a severe turn, and that call was not a supportive update, but a frantic, high-pressure conversation where I felt like I was being almost yelled at that he needed to be euthanized immediately. There was no sense of guidance, no compassion just urgency without support. We were not called earlier as he declined, and we were not given a real opportunity to come and be with him in time. Because of this, I lost the chance to have any meaningful final moments with my dog. By the time we were involved, he had been intubated. That was not what I wanted unless it was absolutely necessary as a life-saving measure, and it ultimately robbed me of being able to hold him, comfort him, or say goodbye in a way that had any meaning. That is something I will carry with me forever. When we last saw him, he was placed all the way at the bottom of a cage. It felt impersonal and distressing given how critical his condition was. There was no sense that comfort or dignity in his final moments was being prioritized. To make matters worse, a necropsy (autopsy) was performed without our explicit consent. This was incredibly upsetting and felt like a violation during an already devastating time. The lack of clear communication and consent around something so significant is completely unacceptable. After his passing, the handling of his remains and the lack of communication continued to cause harm. Because of delays and inability to reach anyone, his body was not released to the memorial service we had chosen in time for us to receive his ashes before our flight home. We were forced to extend our stay, rebook flights, and incur additional expenses... all while grieving the loss of our baby. I understand this is a teaching hospital and that not every case has a positive outcome. But communication, compassion, and respect for both the patient and their family should never be optional. At no point did I feel supported, informed, or prioritized as his owner. Lupo was my world. He deserved better. And no family should have to go through what we experienced here. There was no compassion in here. There was only a severe urgency to give us a large bill.

I saw Holmes once more, out of desperation after going to many other vets in town hoping to find more information about the costly TPLO surgery most were recommending. I had done some research over many months, pouring over professional and academic veterinary medicine publications on the subject, which I told Holmes about. (I am able to read through these pubs because I've been rigorously trained as a scientist.) But apparently his fragile ego couldn't abide an intelligent, diligent and tenacious pet owner; After the appointment, he walked me to the waiting room, which was then full, and ridiculed me in front of everyone there for getting my information from "internet chat rooms." I'm used to men treating me this way because it's so difficult them to cope with a woman with math and physics degrees, but this time I was devastated because I was already trying to cope with the pain and suffering of my beloved dog whose torn ligaments had already been misdiagnosed by another local vet who is a cat lover. I really didn't need such unprofessional, unethical, juvenile behavior on top of everything else. He's a disgrace to the profession.

BUT THEY DON'T HAVE IT COMPOUNDED?? I had to tell the same staff member 3 times that yes, i did, in fact want the medication compounded. And then I get a follow up text "just to confirm, you do want this to be compounded?" Last weekend was my breaking point. I took my dog in for a quick blood draw. I was there for an hour. They never drew blood. There were animals in and out. Both for tech appointments and to see the Dr. My dog sat in the back the entire time while I sat in the lobby. I asked several times if it was going to be much longer. After 45 minutes I did tell the manager to please just give me my dog. That took yet another 15 minutes to get my dog & pick up medication. Furthermore I can tell that something about "CARE" has been discussed and that it is regularly discussed because the team demonstrates itself in a very thorough route around the pet, the pet owner/guardian, and the appointment. They care to remind you, the care to confirm, they care to inspect, they care to ask about your concerns, they care to inform and educate, they care to clearly communicate the cost and care to schedule the follow ups. And no I do not feel in any way they are just selling, and upselling, and running you through a scheme of how much they can soak you for. No not at all... What they are doing though, is a great job of Veterinarian Care and they do this business well. They are not the cheapest and not the most expensive, I would guess very fair if your cost driven. For me I am service and care type, that feels you get what you pay for, and I think I get an exceptional value. I do feel you need to be comfortable with your Veterinarian and staff for you to be happy.
