If you are truly ready to get sober, then this is a great program to start your new life in sobriety. The staff members are almost entirely in recovery themselves, and make an effort to listen to the client's needs and take action accordingly. There is a healthy mix of peer interaction, group and individual therapy, and the partial hospitalization program (PHP) does a lot to provide useful tools for the clients in areas such as relationship management, relapse prevention, self-awareness, dealing with triggers and understanding the effects that drugs have on the brain and body. The disease of addiction/alcoholism is cunning, baffling, and powerful. At restore, the team truly gives a great effort and does their absolute best to help the clients arrest the disease and make recovery truly possible. I wouldn't be equipped to deal with the pressures of "the real world" without drugs if it wasn't for the excellent help I received while at Restore.

He ended up at the hospital twice while being under their care not because of the condition he went in the first place it's because of the lack of care that they had over there. After 3 long pages provided from a hospitals case manager, I narrowed it down to 5 that I had the patience to tour and interview in person. That's a lot to go to!! From there, I boiled it down to 2 places, West Valley and another on Devonshire was my backup. I am VERY pleased that after all that due diligence, I found out a friend that recommended this West Valley Post Acute center, without even knowing I had already chosen it as the winner. My detailed research and personal referral from someone else who had experience here made me feel even more at ease to place my Dad here. My Dad was released from this place last year and has been in our family's care at home. But after a recent hospital incident, a year later, my family had to put him back in rehab, per the doctors recommendation. Of coarse we had to have him back here and only here! Luckily, there was room for him. I was even able to request an amazing CNA named Sofia to be assigned to him again. All the nurses, doctors and entire staff are great, but we felt really comfortable with Sofia and grateful to have my dad assigned to her station. Overall, it's not easy to put your loved one in a care center.... even for short-term. But if you have to, then trust me this is the right place. If it wasn't then I wouldn't consider him back in the same place.... And I feel at ease to have him back in the same care that we trusted.

5 Stars are not Enough!!!…read more I am forever thankful and grateful to Arlen and his incredible team at the Disability Rehabilitation Center! Arlen truly facilitated a miracle for me, thank God--no exaggeration. Three top LA orthopedic surgeons gave me a bleak prognosis: even with diligent physical therapy, I'd likely lose at least 50% of the range of motion (ROM) in my left arm and shoulder. But under Arlen's expert care--and with the wonderful support from his team: Diana, Daniella, and Masa--I've regained 100% ROM. If not for them, I'd be facing permanent, severe limitations. In May 2021, I shattered my left humerus in three places: one clean break about 1" above my elbow, another parallel break 1" below my shoulder, and a 1cm displaced fracture at the apex (a shard of bone sticking out, with the bone smashed at the base). I consulted three top sports orthopedic surgeons. The first said surgery was needed immediately but admitted he lacked the expertise for such complexity and referred me to his associate. She couldn't do it either--it would require a full surgical team and facility she didn't have. Finally, Dr. Patterson, the leading arm and shoulder specialist at USC Keck, evaluated me. Five weeks post-injury, he strongly advised against surgery due to high risks: potential rejection of repair materials could lead to bone death and possible amputation, given the poor blood supply to the area. He was blunt: even if I did physical therapy diligently, I'd still lose at least 50% ROM. I refused to accept that. I told him I planned to have children someday and would lift them over my head. He interrupted, insisting I needed "realistic expectations!" I let it go in one ear and out the other, vowing to prove him wrong. Arlen's hands-on approach made all the difference. From the start, he massaged and gently manipulated my arm to retrain it into proper alignment. He created very specific, tailored exercises for me to do between our two weekly sessions. His technique was precise and intuitive--I could feel in real time how crucial each movement was. Arlen is kind, warm, attentive, never rushes me, and always encourages me like a world-class coach cheering from the sidelines. The entire team--Diana, Daniella, and Masa--are so wonderful. Diana is Arlen's second in command, the most experienced, and truly amazing but a shout out to Daniella and Masa too! They are always professional, supportive, and make every visit positive and motivating. Even now, almost 5 years later, I'm still going once per week to maintain my full ROM and manage ongoing pain--that's how serious and life-altering this injury was and still is. Arlen and his team continue to provide the guidance and care I need to stay strong and active. The highlight? My final appointment with Dr. Patterson. I demonstrated full overhead motion by pretending to scoop up and lift a running child. His jaw dropped, and he said, "That is miraculous." Arlen and his team didn't just help me recover--they gave me back my future and keep supporting it. If you're facing a serious injury or mobility challenge, the Disability Rehabilitation Center (with Arlen, Diana, Daniella, and Masa) is exceptional. Highly recommend--Again, 5 stars aren't enough!

I had been going here for over four weeks for my left shoulder rotator cuff tear. I was making…read moreprogress, but this is a horribly unprofessional place, and I finally quit for many reasons. The top six reasons are: 1. The place was filthy every time -- overflowing trash cans, and crap and litter and scraps of paper all over the floor as though it was never cleaned or vacuumed. 2. Each of the three PT aides kept giving me different and conflicting instructions for each of the exercises. The instructions should be clear and consistent, but they were not. 3. None of the aides seemed to know what I was supposed to do -- every single time I was there, they asked me what I was working on and how many reps, etc. Isn't it written down in a patient chart? They should be the ones who should know and oversee and guide me as to what I am supposed to be doing. 4. After three weeks, the lead PT (Arlen Minassian) made it clear he did not want to work with me anymore, and he suggested that PT may not be right for me since I was still in pain, and he said I should return to my doctor for a cortisone shot instead. But wouldn't I need more than just three weeks to heal from a tear in the tendon? I thought I was making progress, but it felt like he was kicking me out. 5. The lead PT (Arlen) told me to stop one exercise before it hurt -- he insisted that I should feel no pain at all during it and to stop and pull back if it hurt at all. Twenty minutes later, he said I need to work through the pain to have any progress. So which is it? Then he stopped the aides from giving me manual manipulation (a deep massage) in the area, which had felt really good, and he never gave a reason why. 6. The final straw -- They scheduled three patients at the same time on a day with just one PT aide, and she worked the entire hour on one patient. She first hooked me up to a TENS unit and then left me for over an hour as she worked on someone else. As I was attached to all the leads, I could not even stand up or do anything else. I sat there for an hour and twenty minutes waiting and finally said I was leaving. She then hurried over and removed the leads, and I did a few exercises and then left. I canceled my next appointment, and I'm now done with them. I do NOT recommend this place. Please be careful where you go and check them out.

Harmony…read more This place is remarkable in any and every respect I can conceive of. I have to say, right off the bat, because it is so extraordinary, that the food there is as good as any you'll have anywhere. Their chef is not only incredibly skilled, but the quality of the food itself, the quantity, The variety of food, each and every day-- breakfast lunch, and dinner, is absolutely wonderful. I understand that's probably not the first concern for someone looking for help, but it is the thing I most remember about the place, and it was very nice to look forward to those meals which automatically buffers the intensity of the anxieties or physical maladies or any other problem one might be experiencing. If the food there was no good, the entire experience would be blown. If you're in the throes of detoxification, it would be horrible to have bad food. As for the Care, I'm not sure what to say. Without exception, every single person I spoke or dealt with, or was helped by, or counseled by, was as good or better than any I've ever seen in "real life". I've had many Sessions with psychologists, counselors, psychiatrist, and none compared to the counselor I had at Harmony Place. In fact, that was probably the best part. My counselor. She was, in an overused word, awesome. I got something from every single meeting, I still have my journals, and I will keep them forever. The The days flew past much faster than I expected, I think in part because of the other patients I had around me were also just wonderful to live with and talk to. I'm sure that they get a "challenging" guest at Harmony Place sometimes, , but I didn't see that, not in any sense. In fact, I met a man there with whom I will have a good and fulfilling relationship for the rest of my life. If you need help, as I so did, reach out to Harmony Place. They'll take very good care of you. I was just beyond an extremely difficult divorce, I had just lost my son to suicide, so I got the "f&$k its" as it is sometimes called, so I was there detoxing at first off of methadone, alcohol, and benzodiazepines and a whole bunch of sugar all at once. I won't say it wasn't difficult, you can't go through that with some level of pain, but to be quite honest, the discomfort was relatively mild. They got me on the perfect cocktail of medications that kept my symptoms at bay, and it was much, much easier than I expected. I was dreading horribly the seven days of pure misery, and what I had was about four days of mild discomfort. I'm telling you, you don't even have to look around.
