Large spacious park with 2 areas for larger or small dogs. Another fam was leaving and my little guy has always played with the big dogs so in we all went. Really impressive park with obstacles and plenty of room to run. On this particular day it was still sloshy from a recent rain and our retriever friend, Jackson was all up in that water. All the dogs got wet and dirty. They loved it! Worth a trip to the West Bank! The best part.....they were tired and exhausted lots of energy while having fun. Bring a towel, just in case it's wet.

My HUGE complaint about this park is that someone showed up in the middle of the day to mow and made everyone leave. You've got to be kidding me? I can't believe they showed up at prime dog park time and kicked everyone out. Seriously bad planning. If this was my regular park I would have made some noise to whoever runs it.

I have two retired racing greyhounds who are generally lazy bums but do like to stretch their legs when they are not hogging my couch. This place is conveniently located and offers a kind of 'double' gate that lets you have a holding area for your dog when entering the park that makes me feel like there is less of a chance of an unexpected escape should the entrance door be left open. The people I have met that go here are all dog lovers and it is fun to talk to people and swap stories about our hounds. Another thing that is great is that they offer a dog water fountain. My one gripe about this place is that it has a lot of areas that become extremely muddy and nasty whenever it rains (or has rained in the past few days) and even if your dogs don't typically get dirty when they all get together they all seem to love getting as dirty as possible. That being said, as long as it is dry it is not a bad park.

Since many of the people who live in the area do not have a ton of yardspace, many make this their defacto front yard which is fun to observe and not crash (unless invited of course). Love that the trees are lush and beautiful right now despite the cold winter...or maybe because of it. Now I just wish some neighbor with a green thumb would plant some flower beds to enhance the beauty.

Well, I'd probably give it four if I... A) Lived in the Lower Garden District B) Had a dog. C) All of the above. So, yeah, there's a fountain (who knew?) that looks really scummy and smells like wet dog when you're up close, but that's probably not a big deal if you have a dog. Even less so if you have a dog who loves water and are looking for places to let your puppyface swim. Because there were definitely dogs swimming in the fountain. It has your average number of sketchy and/or homeless looking people, but not all sprawled out on the ground, sleeping, like I've seen on weekday afternoons in Lafayette Square. Also, it apparently closes - there's a sign that says the park is closed from 10:30 pm to 6:00 am (interesting that they give you the closing time first, rather than the usual open/close times). Since I didn't realize it was such a big park, I also didn't realize it had official hours. You learn something new every day.

It's usually very quiet and peaceful, unless a festival is happening, then all bets are off. Occasionally you'll find artists and/or musicians showcasing their skills, but more typically you'll find someone (like me) walking their dog, folks lying around on the grass, reading in the shade or most likely a young mom watching her little ones enjoying the playground equipment. It's an urban park, so unfortunately it's closed after dark for the obvious safety reasons.

This particular location is unique as it offers canoeing, family camping and archery! I brought my daughter to try the archery today and it was pretty neat. All ages were there, I'd say 50/50 adults and children. There are regular park amenities such as playgrounds, basketball courts, trails, and I think I saw an indoor pool. We loved all the greenery and even saw a wild bunny. We talked to 4 separate staffers in different parts of the park and they were all kind and helpful. We will definitely be back!

The children are always laughing and happily playing here It's a joy to pass by and hear all the giggles laughter squeals and screams of happy children running around I used to bring my nephews here but they are grown young teenagers now I would always bring with me hand sanitizer gel and wipes to disinfect little dirty hands Along with bandaids and Neosporin for minor cuts and abrasions Plus fresh up wipes to clean those little faces and hands There are no public bathrooms available so make sure everyone goes before arriving at the park and bring all your essentials that you may need Many times I would bring my own chair to sit in since it is a small place with very limited seating In summer month I would bring a mini ice chest with cold water lemonade fruit punch packets I always carried snacks as well too They get hungry running around and there is no vending machines available I would also bring hand towels to wet down their faces to cool off from the heat and clean up It's an excellent little neighborhood park for the neighborhood children It rests on a corner lot Parking is limited

It's not really worth going across the river just for this park. I did see a couple of coffee shops on my way to this park, but other than that I don't see hordes of people coming over here to this area. I would say you are better off not coming across the river and just go to the 3rd floor of the Riverwalk Mall and let your children play in the indoor play area. There is a nice food court and bathrooms really close by. Based on the previous reviews, and google searches of "things to do with kids in NOLA" I had high expectations of this park. What I saw when I arrived was a junk yard of misfit toys and beat up playground equipment. I know I'm being very critical of a playground for kids, but this is a poor excuse of a playground. In order to get here you need to purchase a ticket for the Ferry. The ferry leaves every 30 minutes and only costs a few bucks. The ride takes about 5 minutes to get across the river. Then it's about a 15 min walk to the park. I wouldn't say the area is unsafe, but I would suggest staying on the main roads if possible. The playground located on a street corner in the middle of a neighborhood. The playground is fenced in which I thought was nice. There were lots of toys inside, some of which were broken. The toys seemed to have been dropped by locals who just didn't want them anymore. There were a few swings, and a play set with a slide. There was also a rather large mulched area where kids can just run around. I will warn you, if it has rained recently then the playground is rather muddy. Over all it was a nice time for my little one to run around outdoors, in an enclosed area. Bathrooms - These seem to be few and far between in this town. The day was saved when I found out there was a coffee shop next door called "One Stone" that had a kid friendly bathroom. There was a really nice changing table in there with spare diapers and wipes. Had it not been for this saving grace we might have left just as soon as we arrived. **Be sure to read my review of "One Stone" as its worth visiting if you come over here for the park. Would I come back? Maybe. "One Stone" was pretty cool, but there are so many closer and better things on the other side of the river that there just isn't much of a draw to come back over here.

They get burned on equipment that's sitting in the direct sunlight. The ground is some type of rubber cushion I'm assuming to soften the falls. Furthermore, this playground shoulder to shoulder with the adult Greenway Fitness Cemter. Even from The Fitness Center one can properly supervise their tot(s). Finally, There are 5-four person benches facing the playing ground without obstruction to supervise your busy bees. A table that can be used for a quick bite is located in the center. I was very surprised to see two garbage cans properly serviced.

It includes a full size basketball court, kids play area with monkey bars, and a decent sized grass area for soccer, football, thunder dome or other activities. Occasional afternoon practices take place here but tend to clear out before dusk. Unfortunately there are not any lights for night time practice or events. Only nearby lights are on the Lafitte Greenway and do not extend to the grass area next to the pathway. Super close the French Quarter RV Park. There are some beautiful large old oak trees in the park that offer shade from that intense summer sun. About three blocks away sits the Lemann Pool which can help you cool off even more(if it's open). I've found the hours of operation to be limited despite the many months of stagnant summer heat. Dog friendly space for you and your pup to play. No water hazards to worry about them getting into. Just watch traffic on Claiborne and clean up after your pet.
