IF YOU WANT POUTINE, THIS IS IT. I'M SERIOUS.
Our friend Marc recommended this spot when my partner and I did a tour of Lac Saint-Jean. It can be hard to spot if you're not looking for it, as it's just a small stop on the side of the road. It seems like it's popular among locals, as we saw a few people who left the restaurant on foot and a bicyclist.
They have a little terrasse, which is a nice option in the summer. We shared a large bacon and sausage poutine, which satisfied my poutine craving in a way it has never before. I usually feel bloated and disgusting after eating poutine, but all I felt was joy and elation.
The cheese was as squeaky as could be, and the gravy perfected coated EVERY SINGLE FRY. It's not unusual to be served a poutine with gravy slabbed on the top, so that you end up with sad dry fries at the bottom. NO DRY FRIES. Also, the outside was crispy and the inside was fluffy and hot. And this was all topped off with a very generous serving of sausage and bacon!
If you are in the area, Chez Aline is a MUST.
