I was walking down the street and heard music coming from this place so I went in. It looked fancy (read expensive). Before even seeing a menu they offered me an operativeo. I got nervous because once they gave me the drink, I was stuck with a bill. Then they put out the bread. It came with salt from England and butter from somewhere exotic; I forgot.
They gave me the menu shortly after the bread. The prices were not too too bad. I decided on the prefix tasting menu. 6 small courses for 40 euro (44 bucks). That doesn't include the wine and water I got. Thy had another tasting menu for 60, and then a la cart dishes for 15 (appetizers) To 35 (main course).
It's a small restaurant with only 9 tables (3 x 3). The kitchen is downstairs and the waiter is continuously going back and forth. Bringing up nuggets of deliciousness and bringing down plates that have been kicked clean.
The center table is more of a bar, but with only the essentials. Open bottles of wine grappa, olive oil, pepper, parm cheese and whisky.
The first course just came out... Foamed Basel and fried artichoke of Jerusalem on tomatoe and olive oil. It was light and seasoned to perfection. I thought about ordering another but didn't.
Second course was perhaps turkey and mustard. 3rd was a spinach crepe with a puree and these thin toasted crackers on top to add texture and a bit of a smokey flavor.
Main course was rabbit stuffed with bacon in some sort of cream sauce / gravy. Of corse it was delicious.
Waiting for the dessert, I ordered a glass of the Nikka whisky. #TreatYoSelf2016. When I ordered the whiskey I asked for 1 ice cube. The waiter said he would prefer if I didn't put ice in it. Hahah.
There was a pre-desert before. Some sort of cup of sweet cheese with a raspberry. The desert was tiramisu. It was put together in front of me. I don't have much to compare it to, but I enjoyed it.
Overall, best meal I have ever had. read more
