Located just 1 km (they claim 500 m, but not so)…read morefrom the Girona Airport, it's the perfect place to stay if you have an early flight the next morning. You can also catch buses to Perpignan from the airport. The Hotel is absolutely lovely. For only 70 Euros per night, three of us stayed at this gorgeous, 4 star hotel which is an oasis of beauty in a very ugly, industrial area. The decor is really something to write about (which, you may have noticed, is what I'm doing) - the black and white tiling all throughout the hotel lobby and hallways creates an Alice in Wonderland kind of feel to the place. The dark corridors only lightened by the occasional spotlights, walled in by darkwood panels, make walking down the hallways feel like an eerie, lovely dream. The rooms are very nice, although the beds aren't the most comfortable I've slept in. The bathroom doors slide open and shut, a very nice touch. Each room has a wet room-style shower, complete with several taps/spouts. A nice touch is the "Ladies Gift Bag", which has all sorts of posh goodies, including a facial buffer, a body sponge and some posh soaps. The decor in the rooms is in keeping with the lobby and halls, with the same b&w tiled flooring and dark wood paneled walls. The TV is a nice flat panel on the wall, with plenty of channels in Spanish, English and German, including BBC news, to my husband's delight and my dismay (it's called holiday for a reason!). The staff are exceedingly helpful and kind, answering all our questions (this was during the volcano debacle, so they had to put up with a great deal of weary, frustrated travellers). There is a shuttle leaving only once an hour to the airport, though only once an hour isn't much, and the walk only takes 10 minutes (no pavement, so take care if you do walk). The breakfast is included in the room tarrif, and is very nice - sausages, eggs, bacon, delicious little pastries and some very workable coffee and tea. The pool and spa are the last word in chic, indulgent luxury. Vegas and L.A. are the only other places I've seen such gorgeous hotel pools, and this even tops those. Words can't describe, so I won't try. But head to Girona for a little break, stay at this hotel, and take a dip in the pool. Perfect for a romantic weekend away.
