Burds Tree Service

Burds Tree Service

I did some research (prices, businesses, ratings) before calling a service to cut down a tree in…read moreour front yard. I told my husband to call Burds due to their reviews and reputation...and WITHIN 45 MINUTES Ryan was on our property meeting with my husband (holy sh*t!). He eyed up the situation and gave us a price & approx. time (within a week or so). It was in our budget and time frame, and we agreed to the estimate. Unfortunately the weather didn't agree with the timeline (the winds were CRAZY STRONG) and we had to wait another week - but I rather safety come first - and that is a priority with Burds too. (Since I am in the service industry I know that customers can wig-out about this, we did not, and Burds were MORE THAN accommodating and attentive to our text). 3/27/25 was the day, they said 7:30 a.m. - and they were early (to my delight!) I wasn't able to stay and watch since I had an appointment then work. They were completed roughly at 10:20 a.m. - and everything was cleaned up nicely. When I got home that evening I was so happy that I didn't have to worry about branches falling in my driveway, or this huge tree falling on my house. Ryan and his assistant were professional, pleasant to deal with, and nicely priced for the work that they did. I would definitely refer Burds Tree Service over and over again. You lived up to the well-deserved ratings and exceeded my expectations (which, if you ask my husband, is hard to do - lol) Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I really, really hate to do this, but enough is enough. This review is written after several…read moreattempts to get Bill H. to finish the job fell on deaf ears, as in, "I don't know when I'll be back your way..." p.s., the check for $950.00 was cashed pronto. I made an appointment with Bill H. for 2pm. I needed to have some tree branches trimmed around the yard. Around 8 am I was stunned awake by what sounded like a war zone. I threw some clothes on and stumbled onto my front lawn where he and his assistant had dumped a huge pile of thorn bushes from another job onto my lawn (I have dogs) and began to put them through the shredder that woke me. That's a problem. When I asked him what he was doing, he seemed really annoyed that I questioned him as he continued leaping around the lawn, stuffing branches into his shredder. That's a problem. Confused, I asked again what the pile of thorn bushes was doing on my front lawn and he told me it was from another job. That's a problem. Then his phone rang and the client he'd made the morning appointment with called him asking where the heck he was. That's a problem. About a half hour later, he managed an apology (for getting the time wrong but not for trashing my lawn) and still didn't seem to understand that his behavior was inappropriate at best. He offered to come back another time (I should lose another day's pay for this?) but I told him to just do the job he came to do. The trimming took about two hours and he did a good job but then he began to rush. Cleanup could have been better as there were branches, twigs and sawdust all over the deck, lawn and yard. He had to climb up on my roof to get to a limb and said he'd clean the debris from my gutter but then seemed in a rush to get to his second appointment and, since there was a bit of ice in the corner of one section of gutter, he wisely decided not to do it, promising to come back and finish up. Like a schmuck, I trusted his word. He failed to come back, failed to answer several texts sent over a period of a month, and failed to reply to an inquiry I sent to his website. Maybe this sort of work ethic is ok for some, but it falls short of what I expect from someone who claims to have been in business for 20 years. He seemed like an ok guy, but I will not be doing business with him and do not recommend him. The arrogance was appalling. Unfortunately, he claims he's a Yankee fan, so don't let him schmooze you with some oily B.S. about the Yankees if you are a fan, before you agree to have him do the work unless you like to be jerked around and ignored when he leaves it unfinished and cashes your check.

THEY DID A HORRIBLE JOB!!!…read more I WISH I COULD GIVE NEGATIVE ONE HUNDRED STARS!!! I needed my two trees trimmed by the power lines. I hired this company expecting a better job than the free service provided by the electric company. I should have saved my money and let the tree trimmers from the electric company butcher my trees! He came to my house approximately one week prior to ask what I wanted trimmed and to provide a quote. I explained what I wanted trimmed and what I specifically did not want cut. He cut and removed everything I specifically said not to. The trees use to shade my driveway and protect the vehicles from the summer sun. He removed most of those branches despite my saying not to. The tree in front of my home use to provide privacy when sitting on my front porch. He completely thinned out / removed all small branches leaving the truck and a few big branches on that tree up to approximately 20 feet and stopped. It is totally bare up to 20 feet then it looks like nothing else was touched. I specifically said not to remove any of those branches because they provided privacy. It looks like someone went wild cutting all branches less than 6 inch across as far as their ladder could reach and then quit. That tree looks absolutely HORRIBLE! Every time I exit my front door I have to look at the tree he butchered. It gives me a sickening feeling every time I look at it!!! To top it all off, he missed several branches that are over and/or extremely close to the power lines. Trimming the branches near the power lines was the main job. I am temporarily crippled from an auto accident and can barely walk. What was the point of having me walk through the yard for over a half an hour explaining what I wanted trimmed if he was going to ignore what I said and do it his way? Actually, my instructions were only 5 or 6 sentences for the two trees. The rest of the time was small talk about my injury and how he healed himself of a similar injury. How hard is it to remember 5 or 6 sentences? It is going to take a decade, or most likely multiple decades, for the trees to regrow and provide the privacy and shade that my home, front porch, and driveway use to have. His inability to follow simple instructions has definitely lowered my property value. I would have made out better if I found some drugged out junky in need of a fix and gave him a hit off of a crack pipe to cut every branch I pointed to.
