Nick went above and beyond for us. He was diligent and persistent in communicating with Suzuki on our behalf, even when the process dragged on for several months. His patience, expertise, and determination ultimately paid off: he was able to coordinate a full replacement of the engine, which had been deemed unrepairable. We can't thank Nick and the service department enough. They truly went the extra mile, and we highly recommend their service to anyone looking for knowledgeable, committed professionals who won't give up on getting the job done right.

Let me explain why In November 2017, I met with Dave Willis about a boat he had for sale in his yard. He greeted myself and my two year old daughter walking with us to show the boat, helping her climb the ladder. I explained I am a full time first responder and also United States Marine who was slated to deploy overseas the following year for approximately 15 months. Dave Willis and I had a 40 minute conversation in regards, coming to find out Dave is also a member of Halesite Fire Department. Outstanding! Long story short, Dave and his family at Willis Marine Center worked with me remotely (while deployed) and then in person again for another TWO YEARS to finalize this boat purchase. In July 2019, we finalized the sale and Dave went out of his way to prepare every document ahead of time. They lowered the boat into the water and observed it floating prior to my arrival, Dave noticing a leaking drain plug. They repaired it one day and the next morning me, my daughter and dog cruised out of Huntington Harbor for Oyster Bay. Not to be outdone, the boat (a 1969) has begun a complete restoration since that time, and just this week Dave, Todd and everyone at Willis Marine Center hauled the boat having arleady ordered, received, and got the components ready to begin the first major portion of this ambitious project, a 14ft x 30inch teak swim platform mounted to a freshly primed, painted and finish polished transom. Dwight and Rick do the installation in a matter of hours and knock this job out of the park! Transom stripped, primed, painted, polished and then Dwight and Rick install the platform from scratch - Guess how long this took? If you guessed 4 days in TOTAL then your right. See pictures on their FB page!! Did I mention my sister and brother-in-law bought a boat this year and first place she chose to moor, store, and service her boat is Willis Marine Center? Not a coincidence folks! Come down and meet the entire team at Willis Marine Center, you will not go anywhere else. Last but not least...I met a ton of great people hanging out down here. I had a panic attack not long after we set out and wanted to turn around or wait there for the group to pick me up on the way back but Rob took the time to talk me off the ledge telling me I could do it! He started near the back with me and helped me the whole way while still giving the others a great experience! I have gone out many times since and have even Kayaked down the Colorado river! Seeking to ease her into a passion for paddling , I sought out a group experience on calm waters. Safe was the operative word. I saw a social media posting for a guided tour of the Connetquot charging a small fee for dropping in your own vessel. They run this tour weekend days. Until November. There was a group of about 17, some with their own kayaks or SUPs, others rented from the business. Rob provided great direction, was informative , and a genial host. Lisa and I probably had time during the 2 hours to have small conversations with everyone in the group. The canals and river were so easy to navigate, scenic, tranquil, even with some light powerboat traffic. Not an abundance of wildlife but we had a great close encounter with a great blue heron. We are probably comfortable doing this without guidance now, but might choose to join up again for the group experience! Check it out while the weather is fine and the waters are warm! P.S. - I fell out of the boat before we even launched. Looked the fool in front of all but that just started the day off with laughter.

I'd recommend this boat to anyone who wants to put together a fishing trip for a good sized group, or just walking on by yourself to enjoy a day on the water. After we left the dock The captain went over safety instructions as well as an itinerary for the trip. On this particular trip we were going for Blackfish, as the time of year offered. The "Sashimi" proved to be up to the task, as it is a well maintained and clean vessel with a toilet (head) on board. Within 40 minutes of leaving Northport Harbor, we were off the coast of Connecticut and on the fish. Captain Stu gave a brief tutorial with explanation of what kind of fish we were fishing for, the type of bait used and good technique for this type of fishing. This was helpful, as there were some novice fisherman on board who appreciated the instruction and one on one tutoring. The bait was prepped and ready to roll and both the mate and Captain Stu himself were attentive to helping bait hooks and unhook fish. Once we were "on the fish", Captain Stu would give tips and tricks of the trade to help enhance the fishing experience. On the way back to Long Island, the catch was cleaned and bagged , ready for some seasoning and eventually the grill, the fryer,or the oven. Overall, I would recommend a charter with Captain Stu and the "Sashimi" From beginning to end, he and his "crew" were courteous and well prepared and conducted themselves and the vessel in a professional manner. This is a great alternative if you want to get out and fish but don't want the big charter boat (we had 8 people).The bottom line might be a little more than the big charters, but the personalized fishing experience is worth the extra cost.

Anyway, the liability form I signed said "Bob's" at the top, so that's what I'm reviewing. The equipment was in decent condition, the sign-up was easy, the river was beautiful, $60 for a 2-person is good. It was a great day on the water and I would like to do it again. My only complaint is that the white van taking us to the launch point only had 2 of the seat benches installed, so we had to sit on the floor with no seat belts while driving on 25A. If some oncoming car swerved into our lane, we'd die. They should put all 4 seat benches in the van, with belts.
