This has to be my favourite place to eat in Frankfurt and surroundings, and if I could, I would…read moregive it 6 stars. The food served is rustic German, with a particular focus on Hessian specialities such as Grüne Sosse (a fresh sauce made from a number of herbs and sour cream), Rippchen (boiled ribs) and Bratkartoffeln (sautéd potatoes). The rustic aspect comes across not only in the tasty type of food served but also the portion sizes, which are absolutely enormous. The menu is extensive, with all sorts of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes, as well as salads and lots of desserts. You should definitely order a jug of local apple cider to accompany your meal. Also make sure to visit the Lahmer Esel in summer, so that you can take full advantage of the wonderful beer garden at the back, which is particularly suited to families with children. Service is usually very quick and prices are very reasonable. Easy to reach by public transport (take the U3 to Niederursel) or by car. Altogether, a wonderful place!

The Feldberg is a popular destination for tourists, mountain bikers, hikers, bikers, families with young children, ... well pretty much people of all ages - in particular on weekends - throughout the year. The interior of the restaurant is a modern twist on a typical mountain restaurant - and is surprisingly comfy. Take note that especially on the busy weekends parties will be asked to share the large tables. The atmosphere fits the location and the wide range of guests and certainly is family friendly. The service is fast and very friendly, even so a majority of the staff is very young. The menu is multilingual - Hessisch, German & English - and includes hearty foot fit for active guests e.g. after a hike up a mountain, plus a few smaller snacks & a special kids' menu. Nothing fency but befitting and absolutely enjoable. So expect steak, Schnitzel and other meat offers - even so there are salads as well. The portions are big, the quality is very good and the prices are good as well - especially on the food there is no real surcharge for the great location. To sum it up: highly recommended location for a drink and a hearty meal after a hike, some mountain biking or to warm up after some fun in the snow. Year-round operation. Very kids & family friendly with guests of all ages.

Up the stairs to the inside that had many interesting decorations. To the back to a table for five. We waiter gave us the specials. Mussels, spare ribs and a suckling park dish. I opted for the pumpkin soup. My colleagues had calamari and escargot. Everyone enjoyed. For the main, I followed a colleagues recommendation and had the kinder Schnitzel Wiener Art mit Champignon-Rahm Sauce. The portion was still ample!! The taste was heaven!! It brought very fond memories of a restaurant in Cleveland called Sutters which sadly closed years ago. In any case, this schnitzel was excellent!!! The server had quite a sense of humor! I paid for the dinner. Upon leaving with my four male colleagues the waiter says, she bought the dinner so she didn't have to cook. Lol! Of course. I just responded. True. Plus I couldn't make schnitzel that delicious. ! It was a nice evening and great meal. Will love to return if in the area again.
