Well, it was worse than bad because I had ordered an Americano and all I got was basically an espresso in a really big cup. Okay, maybe this place is more for bread products than coffee, but after my experience with the coffee I'm not all that keen to try any of their bread products. Oh, and the customer service wasn't all that fantastic either.

I'm super forgiving when it comes to interactions where I am a foreigner anywhere. I don't expect folks to speak my language and go out of my way to follow local norms, but the woman we encountered today was rude just to be rude. At first she ignored us (the only two people in the store) when we ordered zwei croissant, then (after we also fought to order two cappuccinos) she got angry when we didn't have €0.20 in change (the bill was €10.20 and I only had €15), and proceeded to just take the ten euro, throw the five back at us, and walk away and clearly talk shit about us while she made us cappuccino. The quality of the croissants and cappuccino was fine, but you can certainly find those elsewhere.

It's a traditional coffee shop, but it does do the more modern styles of coffee. I go here when I have achey cakey pangs and a bit of time to spare. The decor of back room is a little in Empire style, what is pleasant to see. But there are not so many separate tables for 2 or 4. It's not easy to find an empty place all day long. The range of cakes and pastries is wide. Frankly I was not impressed by my piece of cake. In our second visit we took two eclairs and found them not pretty tasty and delicate. What I appreciate it is an opportunity to buy there a tin of very special Kusmi-tea (Russian-French tea, popular in Paris). So if you need a little sentimentality this place is not for you. If you need a social place to see people, this is a right location.
